EXL is the new LGX!
I have been using the 72LGX072G for years, as it cuts fast and stays sharp.72LG = 3/8” Standard pitch, .050” gauge, 72G = 72 drive links in a cardboard box.I tried the D72 low kickback but it cut slowly and stretched.D = 72V = 3/8” Standard Pitch, .050” gauge, 72 = 72 drive links. This EXL cuts as least as well as the LGX, which makes sense per a Sr. Technical Services Technician in the Forestry, Lawn, and Garden Division (FLAG) of Oregon:"EXL is the Version 2.0 of LGX. We made some design and process improvements and designated the chain EXL."

Nice chain, very sharp, no ugly anti-kickback features.
Very nice chain, at a good price. Very sharp, good quality, no ugly anti-kickback features. Might not be the best for beginners.

Its Oregon chainsaw chain and cuts wood
Cuts like any quality chain would. I mainly use stihl chains but have used Oregon chains before to cut my own firewood. As with any chain, as long as you don't hit the dirt or any rocks you should be able to cut for a long time. Sharpens up easily and I haven't experienced much stretch at all. I got these at a great price so I couldn't pass on buying these even though I still have plenty of my stihl chains left. I would recommend these chains if you can get them at a decent price like me. I mainly cut cedar, pinon pine, aspen and oak out the Grand Canyon here in Arizona and does the job for me.

Gullet before use!
Always a good product. Rated four star since viewing a video on YouTube by "Guilty of Treason" that demonstrated in a comparison test that doing the gullet on a NEW saw chain before use improved cutting speed by 40%. I've generally cut the gullet when sharpening my chains but had never thought of value on a new one. Also in the video, demonstrated that a square cut also improved speed another 4% as I recall. "Buckin' Billy' also has several eye opening videos on saw chain sharpening.

Good chain
This is one chain that I gotta say was absolutely perfect out of the box! I tested it out without hitting it with a file first, and I kid you not, it threw chips the size of playground mulch and that blew my mind really! Not only that these Oregon chains are easy to file and won’t burn up a file as quickly! 👍🏻
