Very versatile for lower frequencies
I bought this for a few reasons. We’re still in shelter at home kinda mode. My children take music lessons which are online. My oldest has been recording for various projects. I use a Zoom H5n for recording anything that needs better than a phone. The H5 was lacking in one thing or another, either point it down and get the bass drum and lose some of the cymbals or gets the cymbals, snare and Tom but seriously lose the kick drum. My other son plays double bass. When I read this mic is good for trombone, I figured it’s got to be good for bass too. So I ordered it. I couldn’t be happier. We plug this into the Zoom H5, which is connected to a computer which is used for Zoom virtual lessons. Both the drumset and bass teachers really noticed an improvement. The bass teacher said it sounded like he was in the same room.

Legendary kick drum mike
I have the D112 and the Shure Beta. Both are built like tanks and work well for bass guitars, kick drums, and other very low-end applications. Study the curves for the frequencies these mikes will handle, because they differ. The Beta yields a smoother sound, whereas the D112 has more punch. I have a D112 mounted inside a 24" kick drum, just about 4" from the batter head. It sounds great. Generally among the handful of other drummers or engineers I know, the D112 is preferred on the kick for rock or country applications.

AKG D112 MK II
Excellent kick drum reproduction for recording.. Crisp & clear. Sturdy construction just as you would expect from AKG. I own several (Higher End) AKG products and they never let me down and are all professional grade products.

This is what you want for bass sounds.
It makes such deep smooth and clear bass tones, you will fall in love forever with the AKG D112 MkII (What a huge name)The recordings it does are so good you don't really need to adjust anything after recording it except maybe throw a limiter and comp for your mix, I just love its sound.

Rock solid bass mike
It was hard to choose a model due to the competing opinions. I am using this for a high-end bass guitar rig - home recordings for professionally mixed recordings. I'm very pleased with the sound.

Great Sounding Bass Drum Mic
I use this for my bass drum and it sounds so good! It's a lot cheaper than the shure mics and sounds just as good in my opinion!
