Perfect for 9 year old who likes engineering
My 9 year old built these himself- just the right amount of challenging. Great learning toy with immediate results. They all worked. He said the instructions were clear. He says the plane is the best one.

Great for Trail Life Hobbies elective
The 5-in-1 Steam Kits were a huge hit with my boys during our Trail Life meeting! We used them to talk about modeling, and they fit perfectly into our lesson. The boys had a blast working with them, and they were easy to use while still being engaging. I’ll definitely be ordering them again for our next hobbies class. I’m also planning to get more kits for my son’s homeschool curriculum. Highly recommend for hands-on learning and creativity!

Stem projects
This kit is a real bargain. Set includes parts to assemble 5 vehicles. Most are motarized. I have used others. Not only are they educational but rewarding in developing skills and self confidence. You need to have some basic skills in soldering but kids will enjoy building and the final result.

Good for the right age
These kits are fun and challenging for my 10 year old who loves to build things (Legos, Knex, forts, etc). Even then, he sometimes needs help, though, so I can’t recommend them for anyone younger. The product description on appropriate ages is really incorrect

BIG PATIENCE with tiny parts
We assembled 3 of the 5 toys. Each toy is bagged separately and the instruction booklets were loose in the box. The bags were not labeled, so we had to look at the pictures in the booklets and match it up with the parts in the bag. It's all "assemble by picture".Sometimes it could get frustrating. EX - putting a gear on the left side instead of the right caused the car to go in reverse. And of course it was step 2 of a 15 step process! So we had to take it all apart and redo it.Wood panels are fragile. If the kid gets too aggressive with tightening the (tiny) screws, the wood can split. Extra screws are provided in each packet. The 2 screwdrivers provided are magnetic, which makes it more convenient.Overall, it was still fun. I had a 4, 8 and 9 yr old each put together their own car. The older kids were able to do 90% of it themselves.*The airplane does not 'drive'', only the propeller spins. (or we assembled it wrong, which is also possible)The jeep is surprisingly faster than the race car

Works as described
This was an excellent Christmas gift. The children had hours of fun building and playing with each item. I would buy again.

Hard to assemble
I liked the idea of this kit and based on other reviews, it sounded easy to put together. I bought these for my 7 year old nephew thinking with a little help he could out them together. We commonly do other STEM kits and build stuff and he's also a farm kid always running around the shop with tools helping his dad build stuff on actual tractors. He loves building stuff and is mechanically gifted already. That said, it took myself 28 yo auntie and 58 grandma to put this thing together and it wasn't easy, slightly confusing and my nephew couldn't even help, it was super small components so he got bored with how long the process was taking. We put the tank together, it took awhile, didn't work so we unassembled, fixed it and put it back together. It is very cute once together and my nephew then enjoyed playing with it but I honestly don't believe some of the reviews of kids putting this together alone. In all fairness I do think their box specifies an older age range of kids but it was difficult for two adults too so it's cute but if you ain't planning on a long project or helping your kid you should pick something else. I also liked it came w multiple projects but after how long the first one took we've never attempted the others nor has my nephew asked or shown interest.
