Awesome Camera
This product was awesome, its not a total direct fit for a 2006 Jetta 2.5 but was snug enough to fit just right. Had to modify the back plating where the original light was and then connected the light to a 12v source but that was no problem. Works great and the picture is surprisingly very good at night or day where its not pointing to the ground but does come up a bit and gives you a wide view. I would recommend this if you are not shy at modifing your back plating holder to make this product fit.

Stops Working
I've purchased two of these now. First of all the fit is great and looks OEM. The camera works fine, but after a couple of months the camera will just stop working. After the first one happened I ordered a second hoping that I just got a bad unit, but a few months later the second one went out too. Do not buy.

Works
I installed this for my 2009 VW Jetta 2.5 i bought it thinking it would fit into the trunk handle but it fits in the license plate light. The other reviewer was right i had to modify the existing bracket for the wires and to accommodate the size of the camera unit. I did not use a dremel tool rather i just drilled a large enough hole through the plastic. Installation was easy enough although the slip of paper in the box wasn't all that helpful. The yellow cable is for video, the cord attached to the video cable was for camera power, and the extra red and black wires was for the led light. You will want to be careful when stripping the extremely thin wires although you shouldn't have any trouble if you're using wire strippers with the correct wire gauge. You will want to wire the led light in with your existing license plate light so that it turns on with the headlight like its supposed to (also in my state it is illegal to drive around without the license plate being lit). I decided to power the camera through the 12v lighter socket located in my trunk. I should also note that the LED light does not match the color of the OEM license plate light. One side of my plate is lit amber and the led attached to the camera lit the other side of my plate a bright white. The video is fine and the angle was pretty good as well. The lines are helpful in determining object distance from my bumper. In short: this is a good product but be prepared to spend some hours working on the installation.

Requires mods to 2010 Jetta
I installed this in a 2010 VW Jetta, and it is NOT a drop in part. I had to modify the (plastic) bracket inside the trunk lid because this part is too deep. The opening in the trunk is the correct size, so you don't have to cut any metal. Don't buy this unless you are good with a dremel tool and can solder back connections you have to cut. The power source is a little odd. I tried using the backup light for power, and it would not work (maybe my car uses PWM on the light). I wound up running power all the way back to the stereo (on while ignition is on). Took me 3 hours to install with all the mods.Overall the picture is good and the product works. This camera puts lines on the video to help with parallel parking.

This camera has great quality in daylight
This camera has great quality in daylight. It also has very impressive night vision. As other reviewers have noted, its not an easy install. I installed it on an 2010 Jetta (MK5 2005-2011). It took me about 3 hours to install, but could have been faster if I did not need to figure our the best approach.1. Remove the trunk liner (4 screws and lots of clips)2. Remove BOTH license plate lights.3. Remove 5 nuts that hold the light housing from the inside. Remove from car.4. Install camera in right license plate light cutout.5. Tin snip the medal backing and drimel out the plastic for the right light. Note: This will break the build in connectivity/power to the left light.6. Solder new wires to the inside contacts of the left light.7. Cut the wiring harness and connect camera LED and left lights (the LED will need the correct polarity)8. Run the RCA/Power and ground cable to the radio, spice into radio main/ignition power and ground.9. Re-mount license plate light housing and install left light.10. Test license plate lights and camera. (if LED does not work, reverse connection on the factory wires from the harness)11. Reinstall the trunk liner. It was a ton of work, but it looks like a factory install and works great!

Doesn't fit, but you knew that right?
My fault for not reading the reviews before ordering! Even though the description says it fits most VW models, it definitely doesn't even "sort of" fit my 2011 Jetta. And it was so dumb of me to trust the description, because looking at ALL of the reviews, good & bad, they all say it doesn't fit! (Or it requires mods)
