Sundara Kandam of Srimad Valmiki Ramayana Hardcover – August 8, 1983

This is great work of devotion. The quality of the book is excellent and the print quality is superb. The sanskrit verses are on the top and the English translation is at the bottom. The binding is beautiful and one gets a sense of Divinity and Feel that God Hanuman Himself is present in the room listening to the parayanam ( recital ). This is so good that at the end of the reading, I had tears in my eyes. It is highly recommended that one should read Ramar Pattabhishekam from Yuddha Kandam after finishing Sundara Kandam.

I like the book with sanksrit slokas and english translation summary. But there is no word by word translation of sanskrit slokas. Also there is no extra notes or explanation to the slokas. Meaning, every sloka has a deeper meaning and a soundarya of its own (my source is Sri Chaganti Koteshwara Rao's great discourses). There is no doubt Swamiji knows a lot more than what the book is alluding to. Still great work.For example पालितां राक्षसेन्द्रेण निर्मितां विश्वकर्मणा |प्लवमानामिवाकाशे ददर्श हनुमान् पुरीम् ||hanumaan = Hanuma; dadarsha = saw; puriim = that city; paalitaam = ruled; raakshasendreNa = by the king of Rakshasas; nirmitaam = constructed; vishvakarmaNaa = by Visvakarma - the architect of Gods; plavamaaniva = looked as though it were floating; aakaashe = in the sky.Hanuma saw that city of Lanka ruled by Ravana the king of Rakshasas, constructed by Visvakarma (architect of Gods), and which looked as though it were floating in the sky.Who is the owner and who is the creator? (our own body and lord, city of lanka is body, creator is vishwakarma)Why is that Ravana is ruling this city of Lanka, though it is built by viskwakarma, who is kubera (elder brother of Ravana, different mother)? why was he defeated. Ravana also possess Pushpak vimana that belonged to Kubera one time.
