Easy to use
We needed a smart lock for our new VRBO vacation rental. I looked at a lot of smart locks and needed one with a lever because our door does not have a dead bolt. So far this lock has worked flawlessly. I had a few problems with the install but a quick call to the Yale customer service line resolved my issues in just a few minutes. The Yale app is user friendly and has worked great so far. We set codes for our incoming guests, for a temporary time period. No issues so far. Very happy!

This lock is such a disappointment!!!!
We have had this lock for a little over a year now and it is trash. The biggest issue is the battery life - batteries last maybe 2 weeks so we are constantly changing them. There is supposed to be an alert that lets you know the batteries are low but I have never received one so we don't know the keypad is dead until we can't get in the front door. We got this lock for the front door of our three story condo building thinking it would be handy to allow us to buzz people in and create codes for different workers and building residents. The codes usually don't work and the auto locking and unlocking feature worked at the beginning but has since stopped working. The app constantly says it cannot connect to the lock and we have reset it many times hoping that would solve the issue. Save your money and get something else.

Useful Installation Tips...
Do NOT try to add the bridge brick with the app first:1. Install and power up the handset hardware first, and then2. Use the app to add device, adding the (August/Yale) network module first, then3. The app will guide you to add the magnetic door sensor, and4. It will ask you to add the bridge too, and5. Finally it guides you to add the device to HomeKit. Very sweet. And then, go to settings in the app to enable auto-unlock:1. For security reasons, you'll need to manually go to phone settings to allow location access "Always"2. Your phone will constantly check to see if you're within 600' of your house (a/k/a neighborhood)3. Once you venture outside of your neighborhood, your phone knows you are "away"4. Once you return to bluetooth range of your lock from being "away" then your phone will unlock the handset automatically, and wait for you to be "away" again next timeCheers!

Works Great!
This lock does exactly what I needed. I can set a code to always work, assign codes for temporary date access and I can assign codes from a remote location all through the August App. It took a while to get the wifi to connect. The connect device needs to be plugged in to an outlet close to the door and within 10 feet of your modem. The modem can be in an adjacent room, but there can't be a wall between the connect device and the modem. Had to call customer service to figure that out, but once the connection was made it works great.

This does work with Apple Home, but you still need the Yale (August) App for all the features
After my first appemt to install and connect this to my network and phone I ended up taking it back off the door and throwing it in the box to be returned. After some thinking I decided to try getting it to fuction on bench top before going through the install again. The biggest issue seemed to be batteries, I would recommend that you install only known fresh batteries, save the one in the box for a flashlight or something. The instructions are "OK", but there surely should be a better, easier way to deal with the wiring that connect the keypad outside to the mechanism inside. For this I give them a "O". Once the August network module was recognized and the Wi-fi connected this thing does what they say, so far. Haven't really tested the auto-lock, auto-unlock feature. As for Alexa, I don't use it but it did intergrate into Apple Home with little hassel so I gave that a 5 star rating. Nice lock, just wish the install had been a lot smoother.

Good product, until it prematurely dies...
I have had the personal experience of just over two years of successful use of this lock. I enjoyed it throughout that time. Then suddenly my unit suffered from the X of doom (1,3,5,7,9 blinking). At approx. 2.25 years the unit suddenly died. After trying to troubleshoot it for a few months, eventually the support folks at Yale said sorry, but you are out of warranty. The internals had some malfunction that I can not identify. Since they cannot stand behind their product for a reasonable lifecycle (we are talking about a door handle here), I would think twice about this item. I gave it 2 stars because it was good, until it died prematurely.

Great for AirBnB
We have been using it for our AirBnB for the past 10 months. Great to easily assign remote codes for each guest. I do really dislike that you can’t set it to lock x seconds after it is unlocked so that it auto locks. Also wish that the keypad would stay active for a few more seconds before timing out. Older users (like myself) sometimes need an extra few seconds to enter the entire code and then hit the Yale button after entering combo

Absolute Crap
I have installed smart locks, cameras, light switches, and even a garage door opener to work via voice command through my Home speakers. I say this to point out that I'm a pretty tech savvy. So when I say this thing is a piece of crap it's not because I am not comfortable with technology. Installation of the lock was easy enough, but the wifi Connect bridge is garbage. It took repeated attempts to set it up and it finally worked... at least for a few months. Then this morning the darn thing just disconnected from my wifi and won't reconnect. There is no way to check and/or edit the wifi settings for the Connect device through the app so you have to disconnect it then completely reinstall it - which is as ridiculously error prone and filled with bugs as the first time I installed it. Yale makes a good lock but they apparently have no idea how to build software around it.
