John DeereOEM Easy Change Conversion Kit (AM131611, MIU13767, AM125424, TY22029) - MIU13767A

I have no idea why John Deere decided to use this quick change oil filter. You never get a complete oil change and pay a bunch for the oil filter. It is a very easy change over takes about an hour to do and it is a hour well spent. The quick change filter is over $50 at some places where now I can buy 2 quarts of oil and a filter maybe $20 to $25. Big savings and a complete oil change.

This went very well for me. Just finished installing. Some tips:- the bolt that holds the easy change filter mount on is 28mm. I used a pipe wrench to get this off. Went fine, wasn’t super tight. An adjustable wrench should work too.- I read a review wondering how to insert the new male to male threaded piece. There is actually a hex pattern within that part. I put a cap nut on the bolt that fit in there and was able tighten that in place real good.- Oil will get all over the frame. Not much on the filter side, but it was rough to clean up.- The kit came with an extender for the drain plug to make the oil drain beyond the frame, wasn’t even expecting this, but glad it was included.- The square drive drain plug fit a 7/16” crescent wrench. Hardly any room to work with but I managed with the wrench pointed towards the back.- When I got the plug about ready to remove with just my fingers, I took a strip of aluminum duct tape (it’s about 2” wide) and I taped it to the chassis and kind of shaped it like a U to make a gutter for the oil to spill over the frame into a pan. So glad I did that, much more oil came out that side.- The extended drain plug tube can be tightened on with a 24mm socket, which I recommend you get because it can also be used to remove the blades from the mower deck.- I did have the mower deck off for this, since I was sharpening the blades too, made it very easy to position a pan for catching the oil.All in all, pretty happy with the purchase, and look forward to cheap and less wasteful oil changes in the future.

The "easy change" oil cartridge that came on my mower changes 8/10th of a quart of oil out of 2 qts. This kit will allow for a complete oil change instead of leaving more than half of the old oil. The whole kit was cheaper than one of the oil cartridges.

My father-in-law used this to convert away from the expensive OEM design of the oil filter on the lawn tractor, especially since he did not like the inability to ensure all oil was removed from the system and replaced. He was quite happy with the results.

Fills the need for a complete oil change. As a mechanic, the thought of leaving used oil in the crankcase does not make me feel good about the quick oil change system from John Deere. I just used the drain tube for now, and am toying with the idea of still using the large quick change filter for it's large size and convenience.

Good value... Well worth the effort to change over to this set up instead of staying with the 30 second oil change that doesn't really change your oil in the first place... It's all the parts you need except for the thread sealer for the drain tube. ( Locktight 565 ) I got it all from Amazon 👍

Easy to install

Installed this Easy Change Conversion Kit on my John Deere S160. Perfect fit and the engine will get a complete oil change from now on. After I removed the "Easy Change" filter, I had to drill a couple holes in it to drain all of the oil before throwing it away.
