Work outdoors, or will it rust?

It will probably work outside for a long time. The only thing that may be a problem is a little rust, just like the rest of us. I live in the mountains where we don't have salt air or humidity so I really don't give a damn about rust or my age.. Just enjoy it. They work very well.

Is there a way to attach this to a door without screws?

The nature of this device is to use leverage and to resist torque. I can't think of an adhesive that would hold up to the job. Screws or bolts/nuts is the way to go. Great little device.

How do you know exactly how high or low to place this on a door so it’s stable ?

Place on the door where the rubber sits flat on the floor. After install you can adjust the height by rotating the adjust screw above where the rubber starts.
