Great laser lamp!
I bought this gt1090 optoma projector last week (i have the latest c13 firmware with low latency 120hz gaming mode) as a replacement of the benq th672 short throw (the fan noise was too much with the normal lamp mode, the eco mode fan noise acceptable but the projector light was too dim to be usable, also the short throw distance is longer for the benq, however there is an optical zoom compared to a digital zoom for thee optomoa). Compared to the benq the colors of the benq were impressive more accurate out of the box, light lumens i found both very comparable in normal lamp mode (both very bright during day time open windows use).I didnt need to change the benq colors, however for the gt1090 the red color was too strong and human skins appeared red tinted. To correct this I reduced the red ain to -6 and red bias to -10 (game mode) and -2/-6 (cinema mode). I also increased brightness to +2. I prefer the standard colors (instead of the warm colors or the cold colors). Brilliant color 8 for gamemode and 10 for cinema mode. Color levels increased to 14 for game mode (brighter picture very watchable in day light) and for cinema ket at 7. Dynamic Black was unusable (lag and washed out black details) and hence turned offIMO the gt1090 is far superior to the gt1080 thanks to the amazing fast brighter long-life laser lamp and the consequently more efficient and quieter fan solution. It is worth the higher price.Overall i am very happy with my purchase I would have preferred a 4k option hopefully next year they will release the same model with improved red colors and with 4k.

Uncompromised, constant and consistent illumination at least for the next ten years...!!!
Great picture quality both in 2D and 3D. I watch my movies on a 250 inch screen and the picture is a joy to watch. On the negative side, the projector was a bit difficult to set up initially as I have been used to a long throw projector in the past. The menu is small and can be quite exasperating at times, but once the projector is set up, there is sheer enjoyment all the way. To be honest though, the picture suffers if there is ambient light as the lumens decrease considerably in the movie mode. The bright mode is best left alone as the picture takes on an unnatural hue and tone. I am sure this can be corrected and by fine tuning and color calibration, but then, that is another headache for the regular purchaser. All in all, quite satisfied with the purchase and can recommend it to serious movie watchers as the picture is a delight once the projector is nicely set up.

Decent Projector
I bought this for use as a home theater projector, and golf simulator (from PC). The picture quality is decent, it's only 1080p so don't expect 4k. Screen door is visible on a large 16' x 9' screen from about 6 feet. Brightness is excellent, and the blacks and contrast are good.My complaints are:- The color bands being 1px off in areas (not noticeable unless you look for it)- With image shift text becomes blurry in the corners- The manual focus is extremely sensitive, yet you can't see to ever get it perfect- The digital zoom is crap and seems to be limited based on the projector mount angle. I would like to see this fully unlocked regardless of user installation and let the user decide what looks good.TLDR; For around $1,000 it's overall a great value projector, especially if you need a short throw. I think I'll find myself spending more in the near future to upgrade to an even brighter 4k projector. Hopefully the focus ring and zoom are better.

Excellent 1080p HDR projector.
Picture quality is excellent. Main use is for my golf simulator and colors tint sharpness are all excellent. The optoma website is a bit deceiving. They highlight 4k, but make sure to read the fine details. It is not a 4k output projector. It is a 1080p output with a 4k input. The reason behind this is that 4k carries a HDR signal. So if you want a 1080p HDR projector, this is the one for you. Setup was easy and image shift is versatile. It has horizontal and vertical shifts. It has horizontal and vertical keystone. It has 4 corner keystone. It has it all. One thing I don't like is their digital shift. It has a big jump. Epson has manual zoom and you can slowly turn it to get the exact zoom you want. I was in between -4 and -5 zoom. So I had to set it at -4 and then stretch out the corners with 4 corner keystone. I didn't want to do that because image is slightly distorted. Another thing I like, this is a whisper quiet projector. Practically silent.

Great image, terrible final product
The media could not be loaded. Great picture... if it works. Consistantly have color distortion, signal loss, green background, purple lines. Sometimes it just drops without warning after playing fine for 30 minutes. Issues when changing apps in xbox, always has to resync and works about 30 percent of the time.I have tried replacing and upgrading the HDMI cables 3 times. I use an Xbox one x >4k Yamaha AV receiver > optopma GT1090HDR projector.Never had issues with my two other optoma receiver, custome support was no help just said to reset to factory settings, which I did twice and no improvements.

Fantastic Short Throw 1080p Projector
Super bright and clear. Using for a golf simulator. Able to project a very clear image on a 8' x 14' screen in 1080p and only 7 feet from screen. Definitely do your homework on projectors as I did but if you are looking for a clear, bright short throw projector, absolutely check out the Optoma GT1090HDR.

Amazing Big Pictures from Close Range
We bought this project for outdoor use on a 20' inflatable screen. The projector is rugged and handles the elements well. From just 4-5 feet, it projects HDMI that can easily be seen from 80 feet away. The projector doesn't have bluetooth for sound and it occasionally loses audio from the HDMI signal requiring an off/on cycle for the projector to get sound back.
