Simple is great!
This is a simple, light-weight, easy to use chalk chuck. There's not much to the mechanism - just two tubes (one inside another) with a spring in between them. The inner tube has the jaws that hold the chalk, which expand when the back is pushed. This simplicity of design ensures that there's not much that could go wrong with the chuck. It accommodates an entire piece of chalk with a little room to spare on the inside (i.e. when the chalk is fully retracted, it doesn't come into contact with anything on the outside). If you push the back and hold the chuck vertically with the tip pointing down, the chalk slides out (the chalk slides out under gravity; you have to be careful or it will fall out and break). Likewise, if you push the back and hold it vertically with the tip pointing up, the chalk retracts under gravity. It holds even the tiniest pieces of chalk with absolute firmness. I used a 1/8th inch piece of chalk on this thing until the jaws were touching the board! Absolutely no wastage! The only downside is that if you're not using chalk of the diameter that this chuck was designed for, it's totally useless (the simplicity doesn't ensure room for fiddling and making various chalk sizes fit).Very elegant, very simple, not expensive at all! What more can a teacher ask for? Go for it... this one's bang on the buck!Edit: Forgot to mention; this one's meant for a 9mm diameter chalk. I think (although I'm not sure) that there are various products being sold under different names (like Charles Leonard, School Smart etc.) but they're all actually identical to this one in appearance.

For the quick arrival and design was great for the costume unless your looking for a detailed item, this was great by those that didn’t pay close atten. Loved it!

Makes using chalk and writing on chalkboards a cinch!
Funny how a little addition like these chalk holders can make your life easier but they do! Minimizes breakage of your chalk and provides an easy fit in your hands to make writing with chalk on boards easier.

Not the best imperial code cylinder, might be a fine chalk holder.
Never put chalk in it, might be fine for that. But as an Imperial Code Cylinder it is just okay for limited use. I have found that the clip does not hold the prop in place for very long. Also the color at the top is wrong, but I knew that when I got it. It's good enough for a few trips out in the world if your not trying to be 100% compliant.

Too small for chalk
This product is too small for USA chalk. Put it in and it doesn’t come out.

Chalk Holders for Star Wars cosplay
I used this for a cosplay accessory at the recommendation of some friend who are in the 501st Legion. Got good comments when wearing them.

Teacher Approved!
I have chalk boards in my classroom. I tried liquid chalk and like the finish polished look. However it was not easy clean up. So I decided to try old fashion chalk. I hate the dust from the chalk and wearing the dust on my clothes. So, I purchased this tool and the amount of chalk dust on my hands and clothes drastically decreased. I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase and even gifted one to my coworker as well. I highly recommend this product.
