Great surge protector, nice cord length.
I was reading reviews for good surge protector's online as I needed something that would secure a lot of costly equipment. After reading how Surge protectors work I chose this one for a few reasons:1) Surge protectors eventually die out, normally indicated by the protected light going out. However after they stop protecting the stuff plugged in they still transmit power. This surge protector will stop transmitting power when it's no longer protecting my products. I would rather lose power to the stuff that attached than the electronics itself. I'm not one to check a light on my surge protectors that often.2) 4 of the outlets are further away. most of my stuff have extra large plugs so have some outlets made for them is a great design.3) A long cable. This fits from my power outlet up a few feet and sits nicely on the top of my shelving unit. Makes everything look nice without the need for an extension cord.Would of liked a few more outlets, but I'll just buy a second if needed.

Good
It does what it's supposed to do. Not much else to say. I plug a bunch of things in it and it works. No issues.

Don't cheap out on surge protectors, just spend a few dollars more to get better protection and better features!
My previous surge suppressor, an APC SurgeArrest Personal that I purchased about 10 years ago when CompUSA was still around allowed one too many power surges go through. It fried two of my PC's power supplies. I got the message and read up about how surge suppressors will only survive so many hits based off of the joules rating of the surge suppressor - the one I had before didn't even have a joules rating that was four digits.I decided to do a quick Google search for an ideal surge suppressor to use that won't break the bank. When I made a trip to WalMart and Best Buy I saw Monster surge suppressors going for $40-$50 - that was a bit too much for me and had way too many extra features I didn't really want. Among the first Google searches done was from a reputable website called The Wire Cutter that lists its winners for "the best" of various surge suppressors out there. Previously, it was a Belkin PivotPlug BP112230-08, but this Tripp Lite beat it.For price to performance + features, this is a solid bang for buck. I had no idea that surge suppressors, even if they have a light to "tell" you when the surge protection is no longer working can actually have defective surge suppression when they're extremely old. I assumed my Surge Arrest was still protecting my equipment but I was proven wrong the past couple months with a couple nasty power surges hitting my computer's power supply. The Tripp Lite 1008TEL, instead of letting power surges go through, will shut down when it runs out of protection, signaling for you to replace it with another. It's inconvenient, but it's better to be inconvenienced than to have your expensive equipment get fried. As you can tell from the picture, it also features four nicely spaced ports for your oversized AC adapter plugs, and a very neat feature - sliding dust covers! Each outlet has a little lip you can push or pull and it will conveniently cover that port until you need to use it in the future. This is extremely useful if you live in a very dusty area or if you have a carpeted room that kicks up a lot of dust. You won't have to worry about dust infiltrating your surge suppressor the next time you need to plug in additional equipment. The lights are very clear - one is the protected light to let you know your equipment is protected, and the other is the grounded light to let you know you're properly grounded (if that light's flickering or off check that outlet's wiring!). On top of that, the *switch itself* is lighted to let you know when the surge suppressor is on or off. Also, this surge suppressor has a VERY long cord, perfect for those runs where your equipment is far away from an available power outlet. Keep this in mind when you buy new surge suppressors.I'm not near enough a land line to test whether or not the phone protection is worth it, so I cannot give an opinion on that.Seriously, instead of paying $5-$10 for those cheap no-name brand knockoffs and risk killing your equipment for it, just spend a few extra bucks on a quality made surge suppressor like this. It's an inexpensive *one time* investment that you don't have to buy again for several years and you'll have peace of mind knowing your equipment is protected better than the usual cheapo surge protectors/power strips out there. It's only $26 (at the time of writing), can't go wrong with that.If you want to see the review from The Wire Cutter - just Google The Wire Cutter Best Surge Protector.

Works fine with no power issues
Tripp Lite is one of those brands that I just go for when it comes to power related devices. They're known for product quality. And as expected, this power strip delivers fine. I usually keep most of the outlets used and haven't experienced any issues. Can't speak on whether it'll protect everything when a power surge comes because that hasn't happened. Only issue is it's a bit hard to plug things in the first time.Pros:-works like it should-light indicate whether surge protection is working-design allows larger 3 prong devices to plug in without covering other outletsCons:-requires a bit of force to plug in stuff the first timeGreat power strip that works like it should. Will update once a power surge happens (though I really hope it doesn't).

Let-through voltage ratings, clamping voltage, joule rating, plug type,
Update- raising a few stars due to the interaction and to me if feels like they have good customer service. Hopefully if/when the time comes to submit a claim, they will stand behind their product. I solely believe a company’s success is because of good customer service. Would be better if the let-through voltage was around 330v for this item. Also better pictures for each product. This review is for product TLP1008TELTV. Joules ratings are decent. Overall product quality felt good but it was not for me due to the reasons below. Some of the specs and pictures shown here are deceptive. Reviews and answers to questions are also not very clear. Product picture was showing the plug to be somewhat circular, however the actual unit had a squared right angled plug or receptacle. Also the let-through voltage or some people refer to it as the clamping voltage (for voltage surges) is not 150V. On the back of the unit it’s marked as surge protective device type3 VPR: 400V (L-N, L-G, N-G). I wish EVERY surge protectors listed on here had a clear picture of the back of the units to avoid buying and returning hassle. I will try to add some pictures on here for others to see. Customer service sounded reasonable. Perhaps their other product lines will meet my needs for better specs.
