Rear light LED Driver Repair Fits For BMW X3 F25 2011-2015 Board Tail Light Led Chip Replacement valeo b003809.2

I was impressed with this little chip. I bought two to repair my outer tail light LEDs as they were both dead. I was concerned that it would not have the same power output as the original chip installed by BMW/Valeo. Once installed it looked much brighter than the original LED driver on the inner tail lights.For this reason, I advise that if you are going to change a chip, change all 4 so that the lights are evenly bright. This install was on a 2011 f25 x3 35i.Another tip, make sure to buy some brake light bulbs so you can replace them in this process, I felt dumb that I didn't think of that when changing the chip, as opening the housing revealed that two bulbs are about to blow.I've read alot of people gluing the chip to the tail light or using a liquid gasket maker to secure the chip. Do not do that, it will make servicing the chip in the future much more difficult to remove. After thinking about all options, I decided to add two layers of double sided tape on top of each other with the exposed part with it's red cover on to make the chip have a thickness like the original unit, and it worked perfectly. Now I can slide the chip in and out but it won't move unless forced. I've included pictures of how exactly I've done that so u can copy the setup. I've added comparison pics of the two chips, you can see the original chip is actually the same thickness but has a crystalline layer or something on the bottom to make it twice as thick. I've also added pictures of how my chip looks installed with the double sided tape.So far so good, if the chip fails prematurely I will post an update, but for right now, it gets 5/5 stars, output is acceptable, no error codes, no interference with electronics. It's an easy install, I spent more time cleaning the surface behind the tail lights once I removed them than actually installing the part. Maybe 30 minutes to do everything, remove lights, clean surface behind them, open up two tail lights, add tape to the chips, swap chips out, re install.

So far so good, easy to DIY.

I liked how easy it was to install my x3 needed the led taillight replaced and when I took it to the dealer they wanted to charge an arm and a leg instead I went on youtube to see how to repair it and using this saved myself a ton of money

Just what I needed

I was, honestly, really concerned about fit and the quality of these chips because they were so much cheaper than factory/oem options. But they fit perfectly, and they function perfectly. Very satisfied!
