easy setup, quality product line, reputable company.
Dakota makes a great product line, and they're very modular, so you can put together the transmitters and receivers you need for your setup. We use 4 of these receivers with 1 magnetic vehicle detector transmitter, and the system just works like a charm. setup is pretty easy, tho you will need 2 people to do it.

Great, no false alarms
So far it’s working great. Definitely the most reliable as far as detecting correctly without false alarms that I’ve used and I’ve had 4 other models.

Good range
The crew in the shipping room could spend the extra $.01 and put a piece of tape across the front flap of the box so it won't come open during shipping.Other than that, the setup was straightforward and worked as advertised.I wad surprised the reciever picked up the signal on the back side of our house.I thought I had to maintain a "line-of-sight" and keep the reciever toward the front where the transmitter is.Our lane is over 1/2 mile long.

Totally unusable! or so I thought
Some times it goes off randomly and repeatedly, with no motion to set it off and other times it doesn't go off even while watching a car pass right by it. The problem seems to be a faulty transmitter since sometimes you can wave your hand in front of it and the blue light does not light up or send any signal to the receiver and then sometimes it works as it should. I had an older Dakota model for years until it just died. It went through a lot of AA batteries but worked well. I'll try and find one of those on eBay. This one is useless. I made the mistake of not setting it up for a few months after it arrived and now after two days of trying everything the website suggested I am out of luck.Follow up: I called Dakota Alert and told them the situation and even though I am well passed the return window they said they would send me a replacement transmitter. I'll post if it works but even if it doesn't I am impressed with their friendly customer service department! They sent me a replacement transmitter and now it works! I changed my rating to 5 Stars....great customer service!

Great upgrade
Really impressed i’ve had their previous product which was just OK. But I had to upgrade due to their previous models being discontinued. I was a little hesitant however I am incredibly satisfied with this new product. They have clearly put some work into the technology and I highly recommend them. I have an extremely long driveway, over 1000 feet, and it works perfect perfectly every time and consistently.

Works as promised our gate is about 450 feet from the receiver.

Random and Unreliable - Not weatherproof
I purchased and installed this item and an additional sensor about a month ago. The attached picture shows that the unit is installed within 50' of the receiver, which is located in a window with a clear line of sight to the unit at a slight angle to catch nearly any object height passing through. The sensitivity is set to 'Medium', and it is approximately 6' from the driveway. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not pick up a vehicle. Some vehicles it will NEVER pick up. The second unit is located about 100 yards from the receiver, and performs slightly better, but exhibits the same random function. I have tried putting fresh batteries in the sensors, but same result. Kind of an expensive item from what I thought was a reputable Manuf. to function in this way. For this application, you do not need something that only functions properly some of the time. There is not much in the way of troubleshooting advice in the instructions, so maybe there is something I am missing, but I have installed motion sensors professionally for decades, so I am pretty sure I am good on the install.I was going to add an under the drive probe and remote, but doubt I will as that is too much coin to spend for a random result. I have had the hard-wired Cartell version of this in the past, but lightning always takes these out eventually if you run the shielded cable any distance. I was hoping this would solve that problem.Further update: Part of the problem here is that the units are NOT weatherproof as stated. One of mine began going off constantly a short while after I bumped up the sensitivity to 'High'. Took it off the mount & noticed water droplets on it. When opened, it had a considerable amount of water inside. Mounted vertically on a tree trunk. See the 2nd Pic to ID the issue. While there is a gasket, the ridiculous screws that attach the 2 halves together do not seal the middle. You can see the gap with tightened screws in the photo. In addition, they are on the wrong side of the unit, so that every time you change the battery or make adjustments, the loose tiny screws fall out of the back of the case & have to be kept track of - outside in the leaves. Good luck not dropping at least one every time. This is all just dumb stuff that is usually attributable to cheap Chinese outsourcing. Inexcusable for something that is not a cheap alternative. Hard to believe that other users have not had these same issues.
