ONKYO HT-S5915 5.1.2 Channel Home Cinema System (HAT-R495 Reciver + HTTP-598 Speaker System Dolby Atmos 3D Room Sound AccuReflex Function Bluetooth Black

I bought this to replace an ageing Sony Blu ray Home Theatre System, plus to rationalise my video and HiFi equipment. My prime consideration was to seek as best quality as I could for a reasonable price and be able to accommodate it in a neat and unobtrusive set-up.First - things to mention are that the receiver unit is quite big, as are the front and centre speakers, so if you are interested in this system do check the dimensions against where you intend to place all of these. I did and found the would fit when I wanted them, though much bigger than the relevant units from my previous system.Second - This does not incorporate a DVD/Blu ray/4K player. It does have 4 HDMI inputs which will perfectly accommodate 4k devices. Care needs to be taken to follow instructions in setting up to allow 'passthrough' for all such devices. The 'User Manual' is downloadable from the Onkyo website, and quite extensive.Having used the system for several weeks now I am still experimenting with settings to get the 'just right' sound set-up for different inputs. Most of the time the receiver will default to the correct surround sound from whichever input, though there is a lot of flexibility for the user to decide. The Dolby Atmos is something to behold and worth finding movies that use that as part of the soundtrack offering - beware of earthquakes and heavy gun fire … in the movies that is. The neighbours haven't complained … yet!This system isn't cheap, though you need to compare against what else is available and at what price. I have referred to as 'budget'. That is my budget and the need to balance that against quality. At the price of this system I think you would have to pay several hundred pounds more to get any better.It suits my budget and a much better system than my old Sony (not that there was anything displeasing about that system, which did incorporate a Blu ray player).

Sent this back as the system was going to replace which is 19 years old is capable of better sound than this was, extremly disappointing in every way and would avoid
