Viking Cycle Ironborn Motorcycle Jacket for Men has CE approved armor that passes the highest impact tests available. Its stylish structure comprises of removable armor on the elbows, shoulder & spine. It also includes advanced waterproof treated Rock Tex 600 outer shell with an ergonomic design. It is next generation liner technology that is fully-sleeved, removable, and highly insulated for the colder rides. The jacked was designed with a 6-point Sure Fit custom adjustment system that allows you to truly adjust the fitment in 6 key places. For example, we've added adjustable belt strap for added comfort & adjust-ability. In addition to all of that, the Ironborn jacket has an all-new ventilation system that allows cool air in and pushes hot air out. Add to that waterproof zippers that will be easy to grip when wet and you've got yourself a great combination for a true 3-season jacket. Reflective stripes were added to the design in order to make yourself more visible when doing some night time riding. Furthermore, we added a quick-access mobile phone pocket, a hidden pocket, a knife, & a sunglasses pocket as well. The phone pocket will allow you to access your phone quickly at a stop if you need to. For added convenience, we added a head phone system that allows you to push your headphones from the phone pocket through the collar and into your ears, bravo! A lot of thought was put into the Ironborn, are you ready to be reborn.

SO MUCH BETTER than I expected!
I really wasn't sure what to expect but when I pulled this Jacket from the box I couldn't believe how heavy it was. I am very impressed at how tough and durable it feels as well as how awesome it looks. I am able to cinch up all the loose parts so I don't look like a ding-dong. This will be very warm in cold weather with or without the liner. I plan to remove the armor and use it as my regular winter coat. The armor is a semi-pliable plastic that seems to be sufficient for most minor falls but of coarse no amount of armor is gonna protect EVERYONE, ALL THE TIME. Since the jacket was vacuum packed the armor was a little deformed. I just heated mine up very gently with a heat gun ( ON LOW HEAT!!!!) And I do stress GENTLY. A hair dryer or hot water would probably work as well. I haven't tried it in hot weather yet but it might be it bit much for hot weather. I think with the vents open it would be OK up to the low 80s or so. ( I guess it would depend on what you are use to. It is pretty heavy) I have only one complaint and that is that when ever I go to put it on my fingers catch on the Pocket inside the sleeve that holds the elbow armor. They should have put velcro across the entire opening so it doesn't leave a "sagging" piece of material for your digits to catch on. I just hand sewed my own velcro across the entire opening. I'm pretty slick at sewing so it wasn't that difficult. Absolutely well worth the effort. I love all the pockets! Pockets are always good. I'm 5'9 and 190 lbs and got an XL. I figured if it was slightly big I could wear a hoody underneath. An XL was the PERFECT size. (with or without a hoody) I probably could have been fine with a Large and just had a little snugger fit but I wanted the extra room. Now I will get a neck tattoo and be able to strike a slightly sideways pose with a far away stoic look in my eyes and impress all my neighbors.

overall pleased
Okay, for those with 5 second attention spans, yes, this jacket is worth every penny and I highly recommend it. Now, for the rest of us who actually want to read a detailed review, here's my take...first some background; I am a male, 5'8" and 215 lbs. I have a muscular build. My sleeve is 32-33 inches, chest is 46.5 inches, and biceps unflexed are 15 inches. I purchased an XL. Cons; the sleeves are probably a good 1-2 inches too long, but I have short arms so I'm used to that in clothing, so I chalk that up to me. I'm pushing the envelope with my chest in this XL. I ride in cold weather, so with the internal liner in place and wearing a t-shirt along with an underarmour base 4.0 shirt, the shoulders are pretty snug. I doubt I could squeeze in a heavy sweatshirt in place of the tight fitting base 4.0. The sleeves have an adjustable snap to take in excess diameter, but my arms fill them completely so those are also on the snug side, but not uncomfortable. My two major complaints are the wrist zippers and the velcro neck. The wrists have a short zipper to aid getting your hand through the end and a velcro strap to snug them to your preference. I have fairly large hands but still found no need for this zipper. So, what ends up happening is that when you tighten up the opening using the velcro strap, the end of the sleeve bunches up the zipper and that entire wad of material/zipper pushes into the underside of your wrist and is pretty uncomfortable. I don't think I'd want to go on long rides with this jacket. The other major complaint and it's a big one with me, is the velcro neck. This is a serious design flaw. On days when it's not cold out I obviously don't want my neck completely wrapped, but what happens is the "sticky" side of the velcro constantly grabs the bottom of my helmet cloth cheek pad. This is not only super annoying, but as you know with velcro, it starts fraying my cheek pad over time. The jacket material is also very stiff so I can't just turn down the collar and hide the velcro. The other issue with the neck is that it's too small. Now, I do have a large neck at 17.5 inches, but still, the neck opening should be larger. I can just barely velcro it together and even then I have to be careful how I move my head or it will pop open. The final con is the liner. Even though it zips into the jacket, it is laughably too small. In front it doesn't come even remotely close to covering my chest/stomach, and no, I don't have a large gut. Not sure why in the world they'd design it this way. It's borderline stupid. Now the pro's; the material is very nice. Has an extremely durable feel to it. We have two backpacks made out of similar feeling material and they've worn bulletproof, so I'm assuming this jacket will be the same. The built-in pads are barely noticeable to me. Not that they're flimsy, but rather they're placed in such a way as to not cause any discomfort. It is basically windproof. Coldest I've ridden thus far with this jacket is 47 degrees on a naked bike, and it's comparable to leather for blocking out the wind. I've also ridden in low 80's with it and with the vents open it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I haven't worn it in the rain because I have a rain suit. It has pockets everywhere inside and out, so carrying odds and ends is a huge plus. It's also a very stylish looking jacket. I bought the black/red. Considering my two major complaints, it should be rated a 3 or 4, but I gave it a 5 solely because of the value. Having shopped extensively for jackets, nothing comes even close to this value. I paid 89, but I see at the time of my review that it's on sale for 59. Grrrrr! So in conclusion, if you ride long distances on a daily basis (touring), I would pass and spend more money for something a few notches above. But, if you're like me, a daily work rider (20 miles), then I don't know how you'd possibly beat the value of this jacket...UPDATE!! Been wearing this jacket since Sept 2016. March of 2018 I hit black ice at approximately 30 mph. Back of the bike shot out from under me and slammed down on top of my right inner leg. I slid approximately 30-40' on pavement. Helmet bounced off the pavement and my right elbow got the ground hard and slid. Torn up my right knee, but not a scratch or even a bruise on my elbow. It ripped open, but the pad did its job. I'm buying another one of these jackets!!
