Did my research, these are the best.
This vent is made with virgin plastic a will definitely hold its shape and integrity longer than comparable ridge vents. Comes with ribbed nails for both securing the vent to the roof and the associated shingles (2 nails per cap shingle). The external opening has a grill style face, to prevent unwanted critters from gaining access to the attic, and to dampen the access of precipitation to the opening in the ridge. The underside has perfectly aligned baffles to prevent rain in high winds from getting to the actual cut out ridge. I didn't think it would stop this one thunderstorm's rain in San Antonio TX USA because the wind was blowing something ferocious. I climbed in the attic to peek, and not a single drop! Original mushroom vents showed very slight moisture or water penetration, but not the new ridge vents. I was told that these events would help keep my attic way cooler than any other form of ventilation applicable to my roof style (no gables). So far mid June the difference between attic and outside max high temps are about 5-15°F. I have a remote temp probe suspended in mid attic and see the max temps daily. Before in early spring (still relatively cool outside), and before I installed the ridge vents, the the temp outside was around 77°F, attic temp 125-135! Now in late spring/ early summer average outside high is 95 - 100. Attic temps have been 100 -105! Incredible!Bought my vents from a local roofing supply company for $9 a piece (4' section).
