Great calligraphy pen
These pens are a dream come true for a serious calligrapher. Ink bleeds into most paper though. Make sure you test the paper first.

I totally love the entire group of Pilot Parallel Pens for my calligraphy hobby and the only thing that I would change is that when you take the cap off, you should be able to park it on the back end of the pen and it was not designed that way. It's very easy to install the ink cartridges and the ink flows smoothly to the pen nibs which come in four practical widths. I'm really happy with the precise edges on the nibs as well I like that they are color-coded, so when I am working on a project I don't have to take very long to pick up the pen that I need next. I love the fact that Pilot offers a wide range of ink colors for their cartridges as well, and will probably be ordering a few more sets so that I can have various colors set up in different nib sizes when I'm working on a project. The pens also fit comfortably in my hand and I'm really glad that I bought these. I highly recommend these wonderful pens!I took professional calligraphy classes many years ago and I've just recently decided to take up my interest again. I wanted to find a set of pens that work properly without costing a fortune as I work to get my skills back. So, whether you're new or have been doing calligraphy for a while, this would be a great pen to work with.

2 years later still hasn't dried out.
I purchased this Pilot Parallel 3.8mm (green cup) pen exactly two years ago, but it was to wide for pretty much any use, so I put it in a box and haven't seen it since. I recently found it again, and to my surprise the pen hasn't dried out! That despite leaving an opened cartridge in it, I was able to just continue writing smoothly. I experienced some more and decided that I like this pen so much, that today I ordered it in 1.5mm (red cup), so I can actually use it for writing. I think that the green cup one would be perfect for writing diplomas on A4 paper. It takes a LOT of ink, I went through both of cartridges in just of few pages of paper.I enjoy the gradiation effect. A tip: you actually don't need two pens to do this, you can dip the tip of one in a fountain pen ink`s bottle, it will have the same outcome. Besides that, the pen is easy to write with and leaves a solid, bold lines; black (and red) ink that comes with it is totally black (much more than the ones I have for my fountain pen) and look very professional on paper.

Fun but a goes through ink
This thing really puts down ink. It’s fun to write with, for a specialty pen.

Excellent Innovation in Calligraphy Pens
The Pilot Parallel Pen are the most innovative tool for Calligraphy in the last 50 years. They produce an excellent clean mark and are easy to clean and refill. The biggest benefit, especially for the beginning calligraphy student, is there is no need to refill the ink every few strokes. Plus there is little if no mess or dirty fingers. These pens are so convenient, they can be take to coffee shops for casual calligraphy, which would be near impossible with nib and ink container. The only drawback for the professional calligrapher, is these pens cannot produce the extremely thin side strokes which metal nib dipped pens can produce. As far a what they are the best at, they are excellent! It's changed my entire approach to calligraphy and I use them for 40-50% of all my work.

Lovely thick and thin lines, and good steady ink flow...
This pen is awesome! I've used calligraphy markers for quite awhile, because the dip pens and ink were such a mess. This pen has a steady flow of ink, unlike a dip pen, and it allows nice think and thin lines, whereas calligraphy markers don't allow good thin lines. I love it! I hesitated buying it, because one can get very carried away with buying all kinds of arts and crafts stuff, but I'm really glad I bought it.
