I can’t tell you 100%, but my guess would be that they would not work. They are pretty flimsy. The quality isn’t bad, I just don’t think it would stand up to leather.

Q: how thick is the washer?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by washer because I take "washer" to be the flat piece that goes on the back side of the fabric and these measure at about 0.2mm which is negligible. Now the barrel part of the piece that goes on the front is about 4mm. If this isn't what you were asking then you're welcome to ask again and I'll try again to help.
