Q: Will these work on a slate board?

yes! I used them to decorate slate tiles for our wedding and they were awesome. I actually think they work better on real slate than on a "painted on" chalkboard surface because they don't pick up any paint residue along the way. Good luck!

Q: Will these come off of a chalkboard painted porous surface? Like painted wood, not glass or plastic?

I have used these on wood that we painted with chalkboard paint. I use a wet rag and have to use some pressure (more than just wiping it off as you do regular chalk) to remove it. After it all dries, if I look from a certain angle, I can still see it, but it is not obvious. There is an inexpensive chalkboard that I have re-done for a friend's coffee shop a couple of times & it does not come off as well on that, or off items painted with spray-on chalkboard paint. It may all have to do with the quality of the paint below. I'm not sure. If you don't want to risk any residue so you can change it for the future, I recommend regular chalk, or repaint the wood. I have also used these on painted glass & plastic.

Q: If used on chalkboard vinyl, can designs/lettering be easily with a sponge/cloth & water? Does it leave any type of residual marking? Thank you.

On the vinyl chalk stickers, there is a faint residual- but have had it get removed with several washes off. :) All in all these are awesome!!!

Do you have to season the chalkboard before using these, to avoid ghosting? I am trying to avoid that because the chalk board is above a food counter
