Better than expected.
This fire box basket has a lot thicker steel on the box and grate than I expected. Great buy and worked like a champ. Makes cleaning out the side fire box on my off set a breeze. All the ashes are contained in the box itself so just pull it out dump it and your good to go for the next cook.

Sturdy Construction
Works excellent once you drill vent holes in the sides and bottom. I sprayed high heat grill paint over the bare metal of the holes. I rarely cook on the charcoal grill without this now.

Well, I have the firewood in there, but of course the firewood don’t stay late but right now I just put whatever in there for now so the picture spit Missy use. I don’t know about quality, but it is easy to use The heat Retention is great build I got it used so as value for money

Good under 3 hour cook
I don’t really know what this is good for unless you want to cook under 3 hours, itChokes out after that. I really think it a waste of money, they need to put some air vents on it. That’s my opinion only, I’m going to cut some vents in it but if you can’t….don’t waste your money on it!

Modifications needed
Yes, as some people write in reviews, it works fine for a cook lasting of only a few hours like maybe 3-4. However, if you’re going to cook all night long like 12-15 hrs, it needs modifications. The ash build up will eventually be too much for fire to ventilate properly. Before I used it, I took and drilled five 1/2” ventilation holes on each side and then took my grinder and cut out four 1/2” x 3” slits so ash would fall out. That worked for a 12 hr smoke that I did. I will be adding to more openings for ash fall out on bottom and and sides for longer cooks. The grating that came it works awesome when inserted in the box as designed! I may just frame up the grating with a welder and some steel and see how that works by itself.

Works great!
I love this box, turns my grill into a smoker. Perfect for my needs. I modified it by drilling holes in the side for airflow...works great and burns long. I have only been smoking for about a month and this makes it easy for me. Thick gage metal and big enough for plenty of charcoal and wood chunks.

short learning curve and really did a great job providing smoke without messing the entire grill up. Good price for what you get.
