Very bright!
First picture is before, second is after! Upgraded my light because, as you can see, my water wisteria were reaching toward the two LEDs on the hood that came with my tank. That and my jungle val seemed a little unhappy, so hopefully a brighter light will help with the reaching and make them denser. No issues with the light itself at all, and no signs of flickering or anything. Does not come with a timer but just an on/off switch

Wonderful light
My ancient fluorescent tube light went the way of all good things. Bought this inexpensive easy to use replacement. I thank you and my fish thank you. Setup consists of plugging it in and turning it on. The fish can now see what they've been missing. The light is probably 3-5 times brighter and clearer than the old 20th century version. Buy this.

Great alternative to fluorescent hood lamp.
Love love love. We had a big clunky fluorescent hood light on our hand-me-down 10 gallon tank. When the light went, replacements were around $50 that I didn’t want to pay. I was honestly debating getting rid of the tank. I wanted to try this first… so glad I did. So much brighter and better color in the tank, sleek and clean looking. Such a simple thing turned our dingy tank into a bright attractive spot. Sits right on top of the old hood, I didn’t need to use the extenders that came with it.

Good but can not do it all
This light is great quality for the price but it is very basic. I have 2 issues with it that may help inform your purchase. It will grow plants. In my 10 gallon tanks my crypts and anubius are growing amazingly well. Floating plants grow well. But stem plants...not so much. The light is not bright enough to penetrate deep into the tank and any stem cuttings I try to replant either die or take forever to grow. The second issue arrives from the first. I tried moving my light to the back of the tank to get more light on the background stem plants. This left everything in the front in shadow including my fish. I would say this is a fine beginner light but if you are into aquascaping and planted tanks I think its best to look for something else.

Great replacement light!
Perfect replacement light for my 55 gallons tank. I replaced the awful split light combo. Much better lighting. Just set on top of the tank. I did also purchase two 24” plexi tops for evaporation.

Lights the tank well
It lights the tank really well but I’m not sure its the best for planted aquariums, my duckweed has grown insanely slowly with this light and turned red. Very easy to set up and seems good quality for what it is
