It does what it is supposed to - and nothing more
This is the second time I have bought and used Birchwood Casey gun blue. And for touch up jobs it satisfies me. I have used it on my Pietta 1858 New Army replica and it works. I don't know if it would be good for a complete gun blue (probably not) but for places here and there where the blue has worn off, etc - I am happy. Just follow the instructions to a T and it should work for you. You may have to apply it more than once (a few times) to get the blue you want but that's ok too.
