Sizing Issues Explored
This review is for Wells Lamont deerskin drivers gloves 962 L, size Large. Amazon mixes together reviews on similar products, so note the product number. I just got the gloves today to replace a pair that I've had for many years.Wells Lamont has priced these glove high enough to make a very good return but the product is exceptionally good. The leather is very clean; free of defects. The stitching and workmanship are very good. (Yes, they are made in China just like my old ones. Quality management can produce quality products anywhere.) The inset thumb cost more but provides more comfort. There is a narrow strip of leather sewn just where the fingers meet the palm. This little extra cost more but gives added wear. All of that plus the deer skin make for a very comfortable work glove that should wear well for weekend workers. (If you are handling roofing shingles all day, you need another glove.)Now for the sizing. I like a loose fitting glove that I can get rid of quickly if necessary. My hand is a size 9 which is not big for a man, so wanting a loose fit I ordered a size Large. When the new gloves arrived I tried them on and found a snug fit. When compared to my old gloves (also Large and the same product from Wells) the old ones were much more roomy. So I measured the old and new and found them BOTH to be size 9! The old ones seem to have stretched in the fingers some but I think the big difference is that the old elastic strip sewn inside the cuff has lost its stretch and no longer closes the wrist opening. Now the only complaint I had was the size 9 marked as Large. When I worked in the glove business some years ago, we labeled a size 9 as Medium and a 10 as Large. So I checked the internet and found that the sizing is all over the map. 9-10 is generally accepted as Large. Wells Lamont's own website states that their 9 is Large. So, OK then.Sorry for being so long winded. I want to state that I have no relationship with Wells Lamont. They competed with the company I worked for, so I would like to say nasty things about them. But they have had a very good reputation for quality products for a long time. Also, I paid full price for my gloves.

Best gloves ever. Too expensive to wear on all projects
Love deer leather. Wish I could afford to wear them for everything. Super fit, so soft, best grip. But they aren't cheap, so I use them for hard work out of the dirt, oil, or grime.

Best that I could find
I work a lot in the yard and have bought God knows how many pairs of gloves from Home Depot over the last 30 years, I have always been disappointed in Home depot gloves, no matter which of their 4 or 5 brands that I picked. They never fit well -- what they call large I would call medium. Plus, they wore out very quickly -- prune one decent sized tree and at least two of the fingers open up.I decided to conduct an experiment. I ordered 7 different pairs of gloves on Amazon. They were all leather of one type or another. Having used them all I now believe that these gloves were the best of the lot. They were comfortable, even after repeated uses and have held up well. I live in Phoenix so the gloves are used hard --a lot of cactus and the work is done when it is very hot so the gloves get a lot of sweat. Neertheless, these gloves are getting the job done.

Highest usability & superb fit.
My hand 8" (L) tip-mid. finger to wrist. circumference: @ knuckles 8.5". Perfect fit. Medium size also perfect, just more adept for working requirements. "SMALL" fits closer if intended use is driving. Used; EFFAX®️ "Leder-Balsam", Leather-Balm from GERMANY rather than "BearGrease" me 'PAPS' holster & boot conditioner. As Lanolin is listed, these deer hide gloves absorb repeated applications; I quit after 3rd. Going to buy two more smalls just, because they're so fine! Care for your hands, can't hurt, right.
