This is the perfect primer and guide!!
I included a few pictures of the information inside so you could see that this book is not like many on the market that claim to be an introduction to healthy eating, the Mediterranean diet, and improving one's health but turn out to be a sad attempt at selling supplements or just a glorified cookbook with Americanized Mediterranean recipes. This book includes best practices, the research findings, URLs to trusted, reputable resources, explanations of how and why certain foods are better for us than others, the importance of questioning your doctors and insisting in them working for you and answering your questions, Mediterranean diet recipes, and more!I highly recommend this book!

I would definitely recommend this book!
I have read most of the book now so I feel like I can give a pretty good review. I feel like this book has been a great help to me for learning the basics of what the Mediterranean diet is as well as why it has so many health benefits based on scientific studies. It also has quite a few fun and interesting recipes to help get you started. I recently tried out the beef stew recipe, which was delicious. I used broth instead of wine, which worked out great. I think this was the best beef stew I have ever made. I would definitely recommend this book!

Lots of useful information
Well written, a little humor here and there and most importantly explaining the reasonings behind his recommendations. I've got some purging and shopping list to prepare.

Not just another cookbook!
I got this first as a gift and I liked it so much, I bought one for a friend. It's not just recipes- I don't cook much - it's more about a healthier lifestyle. All kinds of entertaining information on how to live longer and healthier. And it's absolutely doable. Highly recommend this book!

Most trusted resource
In my 100+ hours of reading across all kinds of differing ideologies about diet and health, this has become my most trusted resource. In particular, the way he divides grains into four categories has been very helpful to me. I’m a very active 57-year old female who loves fruits, veggies and whole grains, yet has an abdomen resembling Santa Claus. Turns out what I thought was healthy (think “whole grain” granola bars and lots of whole wheat bread) were not the best choices for a person with insulin resistance. The combination of Miles’ scientific training and decades of clinical experience with Mea’s expertise in the kitchen provide a great self-help tool. It’s very readable, even for a non-scientist, and the little dose of humor and personality are an added plus. You can check out their work at goodfoodgreatmedicine.com and click on the “Resources” tab for a sneak preview. Worth every penny. And a whole lot cheaper than diabetes!

book binding
I have a friend that has the book that recommended it. She has made a lot of the recipes and she is a good cook. The only thing I do not like about the book is the binding pages don't flip so great. But can't complain us the price was great.

Great read for understanding the value in the Mediterranean eating plan.
Bought this on the recommendation of a friend as advice on how to lower my cholesterol. Easy read, lots of peer-reviewed citations, rationales for why some things are bad for our bodies, and plenty of recipes for creating alternatives to typically purchased processed (crackers, bread) foods. Highly recommend!
