poor basic engineering
If you enjoy such a thing on your dash as I do, do you want the darn thing looking up in the air with its nose pointed in the air or looking at you?If you want it's gaze at a natural level instead of pointed in the air like it's howling at the moon, then you have to take the weight plug out of the back of the neck of this poorly engineered toy and grind about half of the weight off and then reinstall it!This lack of proper design is unacceptable for an item of any price. Anything That I pay any price for needs to function as advertised to get a good good review from me. This toy literally fails, unless modified, to perform its only function, which is two for the head to be at the proper tilt and to nod when the car goes over a bump. It does nod, but only side to side cuz its nose is stuck comes with its nose stuck completely up in the air because of the overbalanced weight in the back.If you read this review and buy it anyway with the intention of modifying it as suggested , this is the procedure:#1 Remove the weight out of the neck. #2Remove the foam retainer ring from around the neck of the weight. #3 place the weight, by the neck, it in vse grips or a vise #4 grind the weight down to half its original height. #5 reinstall the retainer ring around the throat of the weight and reinstall the weight in the back of the throat of the dog head. #6 put the head back in the body and see if you like the tilt of the head better. If it's still too high try and take it back out take it apart and grind a bit more weight off until you get it like you like it.More notes. the plastic of the toy can handle the heat of grinding the weight in it, however the foam retainer ring cannot . It will melt and then you got to figure out something else to make the weight stay in place in the toy. The weight protruding from the back of the neck is like a big button, domed. Grind about half of the dome off (make it half as tall as it is originally).Aesthetically, it's pleasing and realistic from a distance of the passe ger or driver driver's seat while it's sitting in the middle of my dash. You get any closer than that and it doesn't look real at all. I guess I can forgive it that because a lot of arts and crafts have a viewing distance.Of course the eyes are unnaturally oversized to give to appeal to human's who seem to equate large eyes with beauty and emotion, which is okay. Aesthetically I would give it a 4 star rating if not for the exceedingly poor basic engineering, which, as I explained, required me to take it apart and trial and error grind it down In two sessions to achieve he natural tilt of the head in the body.I criticize the aesthetics as the paint for the toenails being ridiculously large and I think there could be more detail, for instance, at least if not actual whiskers, which I realized would probably make it cost more, at least little black dots on the snout.Regarding my one star, it's true that it deserves more than one star (but not much more because I had to re-engineer it). The reason I leave one star is because I want to get attention to my review and people to read it and they're not going to if it's a middle of the road review. People tend to look at the the five star reviews and the one stars I know I do. I want to negatively impact the ratings and the best way to do that is with one star. So I only leave four or five star or one star. I don't leave a two or three for those reasons.

Delightful Companion
I have named my version of this cute dachshund "Flora." The only problem I see is the indication in the description that it could be used a kid's or baby's toy. The head is easy to remove and has a sharp pin to attach to the body, not a good idea for a baby who sees the world as something to chew on. Flora is more appropriate as a decoration for a car dashboard or a desk.
