Deep and Comfortable Tub for Small Space
I did a lot of comparison shopping before purchasing this tub, and found this tub to be the most comfortable, one of the deepest for a 5' length without being too wide for our small bathroom (5' x 10'), and having a better warrantee than options from other manufacturers. The price through Amazon was also better than I could get ordering locally.I have a young adult disabled son, and he loves baths but our old tub was too small, shallow, not comfortable, and rusting around the drain. I redid the bathroom to give my son a spa-like experience in the little space we had, and this tub is perfect for that. My son is 5'10 1/2", and about 220 lbs, and he is comfortable in this 5' tub, so comfortable that he sometimes finds himself falling asleep in it. (I also installed a small wall-mount TV in the bathroom - outside of the tub, far enough it cannot be reached from in the tub - so he can watch his favorite shows while soaking in the bath.) In the few baths I have taken, I have also found the tub to be extremely comfortable. I was concerned about the high step into the tub, since my son has left side weakness and numbness, but he really wanted a deep tub. I installed a vertical grab bar on the wall just outside the tub, and he has no problems stepping in and out while holding the bar. My son is a cancer patient, has a lot of pain and headaches, and taking a bath helps him to feel better. He enjoys this tub so much that he now often takes multiple baths per day. (Since he is sick and doesn't have a lot of other things in life he enjoys so much, I'm fine with the extra water use.)I hired a contractor to install the tub for me (and put in water proof barrier and cement board on walls, so it would be ready to tile), and we used the Universal Tile Bead Kit for the top lip of tub on the wall sides, and the Deep Soak Drain made for this tub (also purchased on amazon). I had showed the contractor the specs on the tubs I was considering (available on manufacturer websites), and he advised me to get the tub option without the front apron because we were putting the tub in a 5' space (full width of bathroom) and it would be easier to fit the tub between the walls without the apron. This made more work for me, since I was doing all the tile work myself, but tiling the front of the tub came out beautiful and looks so much better (spa-like) than an apron would have. While tiling the walls of the tub surround, I kept the tub covered and stood on the sides of the tub while tiling to ceiling. The tub is strong and was solid under my weight while I walked on the top edges of it. I also made sure the contractor put cement under the tub so it would feel solid while standing in it. (Installation instructions are included with the tub.)I also purchased the Danze 8" tub spout for use with this tub, as a longer spout was needed to reach out over the edge of the tub. The Danze 8" spout is the perfect length for this tub.We have been using the tub for about 8 months and the finish still looks new. I don't use harsh cleaners in it but wipe it out with a microfiber towel after my shower, so it stays clean and looking new, and is always ready for my son's next bath. The delivery crew put the tub in my backyard upon request (we weren't ready to install it yet when it came) and offered to take away the pallet it came on, which I especially appreciated given the free delivery.Edit 3/5/14: I am glad that others have found my review helpful, and I'm especially grateful for the kind words regarding my son, who has passed away since my review was written. He died last year but had enjoyed the tub regularly for a couple years. It is sort of a small thing in life, a bathtub, but things that make a difference to quality of life are so important. This was one of those things for us. The bathtub is still in great shape. I still haven't used any harsh cleaners on it, just dry quickly with microfiber towel after showers and it stays clean.

Can’t go wrong with a quality product
Can’t go wrong with American Standard. I was really nervous ordering a bathtub online and decided on this one because of the company reputation of quality. They did not disappoint. My renovation isn’t quite complete but the tub is seated and looks amazing!!

Bathtub
This bathtub takes a 3inch faucet they do not make those. Do not buy this item. I paid over $800 for this and now I can't use it.

Great Value/Deepest soaker
I must have shopped for 3 months before deciding on a tub. It had to fit a remodel space where a cast iron tub/shower combo was previously to make room for a separate tub and shower. (I wanted the shower no less than 42X42). It had to be DEEP. And I wanted decent quality without spending too much. This tub is a fantastic value. The only thing anyone mentioned in the reviews was the depth! As in, almost too deep (how is that a complaint?!?. I had a very hard time finding a tub deep enough) Isn’t installed yet. Will insulate all around tub and contractor always sets them in a bit of “mud” (pretty much a tile laying concrete type mixture) He says it gives these fiberglass/acrylic tubs that extra solidness and stability so there isn’t any “movement” when you step into it, or hollow sounds. Exactly my reason for the insulation. As well as heat retention. I know that once it’s in, especially with all the extra shoring up we are doing, it is going to be perfect. The price was unbelievable. As I said, I shopped for months. Cheapest I could find was in the 800 range and none were the depth I wanted. This tub is very deep (I ordered some teak steps to keep near it just in case) and it has the arm rest areas plus the sloped back, was delivered VERY quickly and was just a bit over 500. We are putting in a very nice remote controlled electric fireplace on the wall next to the tub with a heat option and a TV over the end that’s also viewable from the other areas of the bath. Overall, this “2nd” bath will be nicer than my master bath. I may never come out! I just wish it were done already.

Very nice, but not for tall or wide people
I bought this tub for our complete bathroom remodel, and am happy with it. It is very deep and feels spa like somehow, which is just what I was going for. The slant of the back is perfect and very comfortable. I like the push down plug and the arm rests are nice, but really I don't use them much, however, it does contribute to the spa like feel and look in a way.The Cons:This is not a tub for large people. I am 5 foot 3 (barely), have a petite frame and I can only put my legs straight in this tub if I am sitting up with my back flat against the back of the tub. If I am somewhat reclined, my knees stick out of the water.Furthermore, and perhaps more importantly, the base of the tub is not wide, largely due to the arm rests where it is quite narrow. If I was 15-20 lbs heavier, this tub would feel very confining. It did feel like that to me upon first and second use, but now I am used to it and love the tub.We also had issue with finding a Roman Tub mounted faucet (not wall mounted) that would work for this tub because most are too short to reach over the tub lip and overflow drain clearly, so pay close attention to the reach of the faucet you order.Bottom line: This is a deep soaking luxurious tub, but only for those under 5 foot 5 and slim to average in weight!

Perfect soaking ub
We have a small bathroom and wanted a deep soaking tub. This is DEEP!! Had to return the first one because the finish on the backside was not done well and we could see light coming through one of the corners on the bottom of the tub. Return and replacement process was easy and pretty quick. Super comfy tub. Had it set in cement and wrapped in insulation. Holds heat very well, which is good because tub capacity is 60-or so gallons and our water heater is 40-gallons. Not a problem at all. Very very happy!!

Started cracking in random area after Installation
We had bathtub professionally installed back in January, 7 months later it has developed a fairly large crack in the upper left corner. I’m very disappointed. It was a big mess and huge expense to replace old tub with this new one.
