it works
exactly what my doctor ordered ... it will help my wrist recover and prevent me from sleeping with a bent wrist / bad habit. it is very stiff as it is supposed to be. will take some time to get used to. but it is necessary. i ordered medium, which is a bit big for my hand but it think it is better this way as if it is too tight, the hand may become numb.

Solved the problem
I ordered this after my doctor diagnosed my pain as DeQuervain’s Tenosynovitis. It is doing the job beautifully. i initially thought the straps weren’t right but I was wrong. I had to pull the strap nearer the fingers more tightly and then it fit perfectly. The thumb strap is a bit long which I could have cut off but I found I could also tuck the extra length behind the thumb and that works well. I like that the straps are adjustable so that they fit snugly but not too tight. I need to wear the brace most of the time but can take it off for eating or activities that require more flexibility. All in all I have found this a very good product and certainly not the most expensive.( jm

Velcro lengths not optimal
Have now had both for right and left sides, although slightly different issues (DeQuervain's tendonitis on one side, trigger thumb on the other). On both of them, despite all of the proper measurements, the velcro strap that is across the back of the hand is too short, and if you can close it, it's too tight on the hand. Fortunately, the velcro strap for the thumb is longer than it needs to be, so I was able to cut one shorter and sew the extra onto the other strap. That said, this is comfortable and provides the support that you need for the problem to resolve.

works!!!
i dont know what is wrong with my wrist, but everytime i move my thumb in a certain way, it is very painful. this brace completely stops that movement. I love it.

Meh
First of all I have medium sized hands. The medium sized brace runs small. I can't imagine what someone with large hands would do. The strap nearest the fingers isn't long enough to fit. I had to cut it off. The strap nearest the elbow is too long if you can imagine that. It's useless. Thankfully the middle strap is all you need. i just use that and the brace is tight, firm and supportive. The thumb support is very good. Sooo it's poorly designed but passable and useable

Made my pain worse
I believe I have carpal tunnel though I am not formally diagnosed. I did a little too much crafting a while back and have had issues since. A regular wrist brace without a thumb abductor has done little to improve the issue so I decided to see if it could help to wear something like this product during the night. It was a pretty miserable experience trying to use this. The metal bar that holds the thumb in place has a bend which seems to have been placed with the assumption that my wrist would start about 1/2” higher than it actually does. By morning I had an angry red spot on my hand where the bend had dug into my skin all night. I tried to bend the metal around a bit so it would better suit my hand, but there’s not really anything to be done about the placement of that particular “fold”, since it’s machined in.As a side note, I had found the fit of the bottom strap to be very difficult the first night before I’d bent the metal bar. I could barely get the end of the velcro strap to meet the velcro it had to attach to. After bending the metal a little to try to improve the pressure on my thumb, suddenly the bottom strap fit very easily. I realized at that point that even after I’d tried to reshape the bar a bit, I could feel a gap at my wrist. I have an abductor for my left hand (from a different brand that didn’t seem to have mediums in stock for the right hand) and the bar on that one lays comfortably along the contour of my wrist and thumb without any gaps. There is also an elastic strap that runs between the thumb and the rest of the hand, and in my experience it was way too thick. It dug into the webbing at the base of my thumb, and the texture made it feel like the bumpy edge of the elastic strap was “sawing” back and forth in that area with any small movement I tried to make. I took a picture of this spot with the brace on to illustrate the specific spot I’m talking about, though it might be hard to tell from the picture that it’s pressing down on my skin. After trying to make do with it and realizing I was just lying there thinking about how much pain I was in, and wondering if this splint was simply going to cause me a different type of injury, I had to admit defeat and switch back to my old splint without the abductor. I initiated a return with Amazon then and there. It’s a shame because the fabric overall was not bad and the stitching was also very good; it was just apparently designed for someone with a completely different hand shape.
