Good sword
This sword is great for the price. Sure, there are tougher, lighter, better looking swords out there, but for this price, this sword is quite perfect. It came sharpened, though the sharpening was done either with a angle grinder or with an over enthusiastic belt sander with an 80 grit belt. Easy to fix. I would have preferred the grip to be shaped oval instead of round, just to prevent hitting a target angled. The scabbard is ok. The chape is bent and it took a bit of force initially to get the sword into the scabbard. But now it fits nicely, though still a bit tight. Some other people have expressed doubt weather it is really battle ready. Now i didn't test it on another sword but decided to see how it would feel to smash it into a hardened woodblock. The sword had no problem with a mighty two handed swing. Sure, it wobbled a bit upon hit, but no deformation and no loss of edge could be detected. The only warning is that this isn't a beginner's sword. It's heavy and bulky and not very good to practice forms. Unless you spend hours a day in the gym.

Awesome sword
Awesome sword. The packaging was very good and the sword was thickly-wrapped in layers of bubble wrap and plastic. The box was also very sturdy. The shipping was very fast, I recommend purchasing this sword from Snake Eye Tactical as they had the best and fastest customer service I have ever experienced. The sword is basically 5 pounds of raw forged steel and iron. First of all the sword doesn't look quite the same as in the pictures- it has the two-step handle, but the lower area of the handle is carved in rather than completely cylindrical. I will upload some photos of the sword to show this. The pommel is solid iron with a dark, authentic finish. The handle is solid wood, wrapped in real leather, and sewed along the side. The guard is well shaped out of steel and has a dark finish to it to look like iron, however it has some discoloring on it.The blade is flexible but sturdy and thick, thanks to the compromise in the steel created by using both 1065 and 1095 carbon content steels. The ridge fuller on the blade is very pronounced and the blade is wide. The blade also has a beautiful mirror polish that complements the dark hilt very well. The blade is pretty sharp, but I don't know about razor sharp. I could not get to the tang because the tang is actually peened off at the pommel (which is a good thing) but it looks like it is a full tang, especially by the way it flexes. The scabbard is crap. It is a light wood, wrapped in thin, fake cardboard leather, and sewed. The throat and chape are dark patina steel, however the chape was actually not on the scabbard, but loose in the packaging. The sword also has a really hard time going into the scabbard, and I haven't even gotten it into the scabbard yet. So I just took the throat off too and I will build my own scabbardand use the fittings on it. For fun, I cut the scabbard in half with the sword and the sword did very well.Overall, a very authentic, tough, battle ready and historically accurate sword for the price. It simply deserves four stars because of the condition it come in- slight discoloration on the guard, heavy oil all over the sword, crappy scabbard with chape broken off, and the sword does not even fit into the scabbard. It is a great German sword to add to your collection, however it will need some work once you receive it. After you pretty it up, you're ready for battle.

A very sturdy and well constructed piece.
At the price, I received a more than decent sword, it is hefty at around six and five pounds with and without the scabbard, respectively. It has a mostly rigid and sharp blade that appears somewhat different from the other images I have seen in prior reviews as my sword does not have a fuller like i have observed one or some others to have, but rather an edged taper that runs halfway up the blade before turning into a taper from the center that runs to the point with a secondary taper from sharpening that runs the rest of the length of the blade starting a few inches from the guard. I’m not a sword expert, but I can tell when a sword feels good in the hand and in swing as this one does. Looking at all of these reviews, it appears that everyone gets a slightly different sword each time which is understandable if you want a good hand made sword. I guess I was fortunate enough to receive one of the better made swords unlike some others whose reviews stated otherwise. There were a few knicks in the enamel coating the pommel and the point isn’t perfectly symmetrical; however, this does not take away from the rest of the sword whatsoever. I am entirely satisfied with this purchase and especially with the fine ratio of quality to price.(I did receive a small leather ring that was wrapped separately within the wrappings on the sword when it arrived and have yet to find out what it is. Hopefully someone could inform me, but right now it doesn’t seem like something important.(
