Q: will this open ensure bottles?

It will open Boost and small Gatorade bottles. I don't know the size of the Ensure bottle.

Q: I held down the button without it being on a bottle cap. Now the unit is all the way closed and i dont know how to separate the gripper

Don't press the power button... Turn the grey part so that it can open and then close back up as I did my best to show you in the video

Q: How do you change the batteryj?

If you look on the bottom of the opener, there is a little tab that you push on that will open up to the batteries.

Q: Can the direction be changed? I can only open ("lefty loosey"). I'd also need it to re-tighten ("righty tighty").

Mine only does “lefty loosey.”
