Nice quality, quiet.
Completely just does the job. I had read that some vents are noisy. This isn't. It's on a north-facing wall and wind blows primarily from the south west where I live, so I only hear an occasional but gentle sound if the wind is strong, and/or blowing from another direction, but that is rare. As with some other reviews for this product we have had to pack it out a little at the bottom in order for gravity to allow the flap to remain closed properly. Easily done - maybe our house wall wasn't totally perpendicular? Pleased I found it and would recommend.

Very good, but could have been better
I bought this to replace a sad looking plastic cover, wanting this one to be more substantial and withstand the weather on an outside wall. It is very good quality stainless steel material and it certainly looks like it will last for many years. I am a retired woman on my own and I was able to install this very easily, just a couple of things which could good make it 5 stars. It came with a gasket which was far too tight to seal the edges, if I got one side in place, another would spring out. As this really needed a waterproof edging, I ended up buying a bigger one which worked wonders. Please, manufacturer, give us a gasket that actually fits. Also, just a quibble, do the screws really need to be that long? It is a fairly lightweigh item. It was a really big job for me drilling holes in brick long enough for the screws. I did a good job and it will now withstand an earthquake, but afterwards I wished I had just changed the screws for shorter ones and saved myself a lot of work. A lesson learned. Otherwise I find the flap works and wel and I never hear it unless I happen to be outside when it opens or closes. I am definitely pleased with my purchase, and would recommend this, but hopeful the gasket will improve.

Good quality and design
Good looking vent cover in stainless steel. Easy to fit and prevents the nasty draught we were getting from the cooker vent. The only issue I have is that the flap makes a tapping sound with every slight variation in air pressure and makes a ringing sound in higher winds. I'm okay with it as I can only hear it when it's quiet in the kitchen but it's something to bear in mind if you're fitting the vent cover near a bedroom.

Overall quite good but could be improved
This is a lot more sturdy than the plastic one I had when my kitchen was refitted and certainly looks nicer but it does have a couple of things they could definitely improve. It really should have a strong mesh across the 12cm gaping opening to stop birds, mice or bugs nesting inside; I had to make and fit something myself. Also as others have said, it can be a bit noisy when there's a breeze as it keeps tapping. I get the flap has to be fairly light so the extractor lifts it when on but its very thin and too light. Will probably have to experiment and add some sort of weight to it.

Dont be put off by bad reveiws
As an engineer I found that this low priced vent was good value for money, for a stainless steel vent to replace the plastic vent that came with our extractor hood.. The rubber seal fitted perfectly unlike the bad reveiw about the seal not fitting. The flap works well as expected, there is a rubber seal that mutes any banging noise. (Even the plastic ones make a noise!) There is a a wire mesh to the pipe that stops any wild life entering even if the flap stayed open, which it does not. It was very easy to install and overall I am very happy with the product.

Doesn't seal and continually flaps
Have bought these before with no problem but maybe not the same manufacturer. This one when fitted continually flapped even with practically no wind and nothing coming through the vent. When not flapping the flap hung down away from the part it's supposed to seal against leaving a gap so as soon as there was slight backdraft it would close, the backdraft would stop so it would open again and so on, non-stop. It was hung vertically and I could see no way to adjust it so it was returned as unusable.

Should have gone for this in the first place
Had two plastic cowlings, both broke after around a year and a bit, should have paid the extra and gone for this type in the first place. We'll made sturdy and easy to fit, the hardest bit was drilling holes in brickwork! Would recommend this over plastic flimsy ones every day.
