Practically perfect in every way. (Except for the piddly little stand -- buy another.)
This brush works fantastically. Holds water great, makes beautiful, creamy foam good enough to eat (but don't do that, as great as the temptation may be!) and hasn't lost a hair in the almost three years I've had it. If you want to shave with a brush instead of canned shaving foam, buy this brush. That's it, review over. You don't have to read any more unless you're here for some sob-stories.I purchased two cheaper brushes at around $15 each: one to travel with because I thought a $40 brush was a bit expensive to take on the road, and one for my son, who just started shaving. Those hold water and foam OK, but they shed like St. Bernards. It may not seem important, but it is. I don't want to talk more about that here, since it's a review of a different product, which you can go read if you want. My point is simply that it is worth spending the extra money to buy this, rather than spend half the money on something quite vastly inferior. For the number of years you're going to use this, it's worth the extra money. In fact, I'm ordering two more of these Parker brushes to replace those two.Regarding the stand: Sure, it doesn't do the brush justice. Splash out and buy a different one; you'll be happy that you did. (Reference my comment above about the number of years you're going to use it, if you're concerned about spending the extra money.)

Great brush!
It's been a week with this brush so far and i love it. There was the normal stink on the brush when it arrived but i washed it with dish soap and put conditioner on it over night. Now it's fine - no smell and it's breaking in.Does it work? Hell yes it does! This thing works up a rich lather in under a minute with hard soap. It may do as well or better with cream or soft soap but i haven't tried either of those. Is it worth the money? I say yes. It hasn't shed a single hair, works great, looks great, feels like a heavyweight in the hand, and didnt break the bank.If you're on the fence, I say get it. I highly doubt you'll be disappointed.

A bargain for badger
We had lost a shaving brush while traveling and after a search came across the Parker brand.I was familiar with it for past usage (including their DE razors,) but had forgotten. The unit is on the larger knot size, being 24mm, and has a good amount of heft and weight. Not sure how much the metal base comes into play on that though. The stand is a nice added touch, though we dont use it and have something else in use. If I did not have that however, I would definitely use the one it came with. Some slight smell as expected when it was used the first few times, but has mellowed to typical shaving cream scents now.Little to no hairs came out during the first few uses either, which is atypical for most brushes on the market.Great bargain for the price and love the styling and looks.

Beautiful but too large for my old stand.
Beautiful design and the badger hair is smooth and lathers well. I have only had one other brush to compare, but so far it seems superior quality. One of the only downsides is it is much larger than my previous brush which makes it not fit in my old stand, at least vertically. (Pictures included). No hairs have fallen out as of yet, after 3 shaves, though sometimes the hairs poke out at weird angles.( Though this is perhaps more due to the horizontal position it sits in my shaving stand). Perhaps Parker can sell it as a set with a base to avoid mismatching sizes.

Great for bowl lathering not for face lathering.
This brush is very prickly and scratchy not good for face lathering. Don't get me wrong this is still a good brush for bowl lathering and painting the lather on your face. This brush is probably the best pure badger brush you can find here on Amazon. Some have even compaired it to lower grade best badger. Badger hair is graded on a scale with super badger at the top followed by silver tip and best badger with pure badger being the lowest grade. This brush is a pure badger hence why it's prickly and scratchy, don't expect it to feel like a silver tip badger. On the good side this brush produces a ton of lather when done in a bowl. Just soak for 5 minutes give it a shake and can whip up great lather from a soap or cream like nothing. Since the knot is dense and thick it can pick up soap from the hardest of soaps with no difficulty. It also retains lather for your 3 passes without the lather dying down, forcing you to reload with cream or soap. When I use Proraso cream a small dollop of cream goes a long way. I really like the handle it has a good heft to it and the whole brush weighs 120 grams. I would recommend this brush strictly for bowl or scuttle lathering. For face lathering a Semouge boar or an Omega S brush is preferable.

Legit
Worth every penny to get a quality shave. Far softer and more effective than synthetic.

Good Quality
I am replacing a shaving brush and holder that is more than 40 years old! That one cost significantly more money back then. This one is not as “fancy” (plastic not brass” doesn’t have a place for a razor but all in all is quite nice and functional. For the price it is very much worth the money!

Excellent brush, trash the stand
After purchasing a few cheap, but real, badger brushes and having them fall apart, I decided to spend the little extra money to get a "nice" brush. I have been happily shaving ever since without a problem. The handle has a nice weight to it and doesn't fall over mid lather if you set it down. The brush did not smell at all, was much softer to start with than others, and has held up very well over few dozen shaves. My favorite part is how much more forgiving of a lather this brush makes compared to others. I was constantly battling a too watery or too dry of a lather with the old baseline brushes, but this brush makes a consistent lather easily, and every time. The provided plastic stand is the only downfall, as it is flimsy and a little too small of an opening for the brush head. Maybe I'm paranoid, but I have to slide it in extra carefully each time so the outside bristles don't get torn. A stand is necessary in my opinion, and I have been looking for a new one to replace it with.
