Inspect deliveries promptly to avoid over confidence and disappointment with ordered product.
Disappointment when I finally was ready to install into newly renovated kitchen only to find it has to be direct wired and is not plug in ready. The description states "plug in" and I've ordered Broan hood range before and felt confidence in ordering this brand again only to discover that now I'll need to either get electrician to do the direct wiring or order a plug in kit (additional expense!) to convert this unit for easier installation. And since I did not needed until the renovation was complete and feeling confident that I had the correct unit I am pass the return date and now am in a frustrating dilemma.

Beautiful stainless replacement for the old painted over
This is a beautiful stainless steel version of the enameled white one that it replaced. The old one rusted badly and was really looking crappy. The air flow seem to be quite a bit stronger than the old one, but of course the old one was wearing out. While I installed it by myself, it really takes two people to install it. One to hold it up while the other person drills holes and puts in the screws. As this was almost an exact replacement of the old one, most of the holes lined up but not all of them as is an updated versionThis was a vented installation but it can be installed as a non-vented installation. If installing as a vented installation, make sure to have some aluminized tape to go around the ductingThe vent plates are designed to be punched out, but being made of stainless steel, it was quite difficult to punch them out and took vice grips and a heavy screwdriver to pry out and remove the pre-punched vent plate. The wiring box is not the most secure as it's not totally sealed shut so moisture and grease can enter the wiring box to the right of the fan.Very happy with it. A huge improvement over the previous white one

One of the more difficult reviews to compose.
What makes this a challenging review to write is the conflicting points, pros, & cons to consider given that I was replacing a similar unit (which was model 76.000-G with a date code 69F). Yes! Manufactured in June 1969! I found that baffling given that my house was built in 1974 ... this rangehood is over 55 years old! The major reason I was replacing it was that I went from the piecemeal appliance setup I had purchased with the house way back in 1997, to a more uniform stainless arrangement. I eeked every ounce of life I could out of those old appliances for two reasons: First, and most obviously, ... I'm cheap. But second, I knew I was going to be entered the sad realm where appliances were no longer build for longevity. The whole "redo" started with my refrigerator dying. My lord, it had endured some abuse and I do hope it rests peacefully in a better place now (as living in this house certainly didn't provide that). My electric range needed to be replaced. The ceramic cooktop had cracked, and (of course) it was a grimy mess long due for replacing. So, I came across a great second-hand stainless-steel fridge, and later, a beautiful second-hand stainless-steel electric range. The kitchen looked beautiful ... sans the old, greasy covered white painted rangehood.Granted, the ONLY thing wrong with the 55-year-old rangehood (aside from its looks) was that the light lens tab had broken. I figured out a way of squishing a small foam earplug in a way that held it in place (lord knew I was not going to pay the $20 minimum for a replacement ... going back to the level of aforementioned cheapness). However, I really wanted the complete the look by replacing it with a stainless version. I noticed that particular model was no longer manufactured. However, model F3030SF looked to be the closest relation, and it appear to have an identical "footprint." Anything that would make for an easy swap was desired, as it was a ducted installation. If everything lined up well ... that would make it super easy. All that said, now let take a look at the new replacement. First, shipping was fast. And, yes ... this is a fragile ... VERY thin item. Mine had a small dent on the back portion. However, I was able to work it out with my hand (and it was going to be against the wall in the back of the range ... so it wouldn't be noticeable anyway). I figured that, given its fragile nature, if I had the delusion that I was going to receive a 100% unmarred unit ... I would be engaged in quite a lengthy back-and-forth ... and neither I nor Amazon needed that in our lives. Second, it came without instructions and without a plastic light lens (to cover the bulb). I was able to find the instruction manual online. I wrote to Broan-NuTone explaining what happened as asking if they could send me out a light lens. They were very fast to respond (props to them) with this: "As of May 2024, this hood is now UL listed for use with an LED bulb. LED bulbs do not require the same protection as an incandescent type of bulb. For this reason, the light lens is no longer included with the range hood. However, it can be purchased separately if needed using part number S99110437."This was a cherry on top of the "cake of disappointment" which ... I knew I was ordering when I chose to move from quality build appliances of the past, to those in existence today. It is simply appalling to see the rock-solid build of my old rangehood and compare it to the plastic-strewn version slapped together for today's markets. Granted, I do very much appreciate the light-weight nature of today's appliances (oh my lord ... moving my old tank of a refrigerator out of my house was an exercise I wish to never again endure ... and the replacement? ... getting it in the house was "like butter"). Install was easy-peasy (everything DID lineup which was exactly what I needed). And, with everything mounted and ready ... it is gorgeous! I LOVE the look it provides (which, is exactly what I was purchasing it for in the first place). So, basically ... I'm going to have to "get over" the inner turmoil that this rangehood replacement it a sad metaphor for our currently social media, device addicted society. You know what mean, right? Gorgeous and glitzy on the outside ... with very little substance under the hood. I ordered the dang light lens ($9) and ordered some charcoal filters (figured that would help further protect the cheap, plastic fan from grease ... just as I wanted to protect the exposed LED bulb from the same). All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. I know I don't sound it ... but I am. I'm just hoping to warn you of the "inner turmoil" you, too, will endure if replacing a rock-solid older unit. Yet, again, for me not to have known that going in ... certainly would have been naive at best. I'd say a solid 3.5 stars is a reasonable and just rating overall.Cheers!
