The perfect portable sketch reference. Fun book. Indispensible.
Finally an art instruction/reference book that understands what we need in terms of form, functionality and information.Sort of a modern day "Fun With a Pencil".Not a Fritz Schider encyclopedia.- First let's us say:Thank you for the special creative binding design. This allows the book to lay flat so that we can easily work from the images. The pages being fully sewn in and glued as well.Very clean very strong. Some users falsely claim the pages "are guaranteed to rip out within a year" .The pages are fully secure and will not rip out. The quality of the book construction and materials is very good and a step above most other art instruction books.- Size:We appreciate the format size and find it handy because it is the dimensions and <thickness of a journal/sketchbook so it easily fits in our backpack, purse, lunch bag, tote, or liquor bag.The light weight. Less than half the weight of the various anatomy for artists tomes. It is perfect the augment for our home, studio, park, or travel.- Content:Easy & enjoyable reference for sketching. The poses are full of human expression and life. They vary from dynamic to quiet, with a good variety of perspectives too.Refreshing to have models of various ages and races.Very helpful having body parts all broken out to step by step sketches. Each body part related to geometric form so our brains can put the complexities aside and focus on building the forms.-The chaptersBegins with the head and ends at the feet.We like this chapter sequence because it makes to easy find any part of the human anatomy.-The textUnobtrusive. Pictorial information is about 90% on most pages.Text is helpful information about muscle/skeletal interaction. Some naming of muscles and anatomical details but not exhaustive. The text does about 2% of the instructing; the pictures do the rest. The text is light colored would help if it were 2 shades darker.10 10 Recommend this book . Good for all sorts of artists serious or casual, from classical to anime.......Without this book you are missing out on a valuable part of your skill building and encouragement to practice.Peace,Smiley

Small book with good about of simple steps for drawing complex anatomy!
As a Full Tenured Professor of Art, the “Morpho Anatomy for Artists” book, specifically the “Simplified Forms”, is a handy reference book. It visually draws the anatomy of the human body and breaks down into simple shapes very well. The drawings visually communicate the form of various body parts. I purchased this book to use in my classroom as a quick reference guide. It is lightweight and easy to access due to the smaller size. It is full of drawings to quickly problem solve how to draw anatomy with simple shapes that can transform into the human anatomy part being drawn. I highly recommend for upper level high school to college level sophomore.

Powerfully small book.
I have to preface this with... read my title again. Then again. This is a powerfully detailed anatomy series. No where else will you find a complete study for total anatomy, clothing, the skeleton, joints etc. covered in such small - size but not page length books. One book in the series is titled - "Fat and skin folds". Every thing human or real is celebrated within these books. This series should be should be embraced! Ever been to a life drawing session? No one posing for us is perfect and all bodies are fabulously fun to "dig into" and draw. That is what is not only great about this book, but this series! It digs in deep. I do love this series and this book so much. Now for the criticism.Yes, I gave them a five star rating and yes, I said I'm going to present a criticism, but relax it is a nice criticism. The book is really small. Not in depth, but in page size. Just be prepared- I was expecting an undersized book size from researching the series, but- I was still surprised at the page/layout size. Also of serious note is the books fold and lay flat to work on a section without book bowing or pages turning.Seriously, why can't all art books be bound in this fashion? My Final take? Buy this book! Use this book and be careful because this book packs a serious punch. Draw on!!!

Great book for artists with some experience!
Excellent book! I am learning to draw human forms so I can draw my own fantasy characters! I used to draw cartoons/anime while I was a young teen but I really have no experience drawing humans or animals. I'm likely not the intended audience for this book because I am coming in with no experience drawing realistic humans, and I knew this when I purchased! This book is a great reference but if you need a lot of written guidance this book may not be a good choice. There are induction texts to each sections and a few figure legends. There is no in depth discussion of HOW to draw. That isn't really the goal of this book. The figure legends are very helpful though and there are NUMEROUS drawings. It really benefits an "advanced beginner" or "intermediate" artist since it does expect the reader to have some experience. The book is printed with a coptic stitch spine that does lay flat (flat-ish) so it is visible as you draw. It is a small book that can be carried in a small tote alongside a sketchbook!I will likely purchase more books in the morpho series as I go.

Helpful pocket practice
Great to practice figure sketching. As a complete beginner, I would prefer a little more detailed notes but it’s good practice. It’s tiny so it’s the perfect size to throw in a bag and bright it out when I have downtime
