By far the best diet / cookbook I have ever owned! Full of tasty easy to follow & inexpensive healthy recipes
I wasn't expecting all that much from this book having already purchased so called 15 minute meals books where the meals take over an hour. This one stands miles apart from the rest in terms of not just easy to follow, tasty recipes but also you don't need to buy 15 different ingredients just to make one dinner. Out of the 217 pages, 160 are dedicated to recipes only, with the others being some exercise plans, an introduction which gives a background onto how Joe came about writing the book and Getting Started which gives all the advice of store cupboard essentials and how this diet actually works. This book has so many healthy and tasty recipes that are not over complicated so they suit everyone's taste including classics such as in a Hurry Curry Fried Rice, Turkey Burgers, Meatballs & Pasta, Singapore Noodles, Piri Piri Rice with Garlic Prawns and so many more. There are also a few easy to make Smoothie recipes and overnight oats recipes. Best of all these recipes are easy to follow so I'm not put off making them by a long list of instructions. They are primarily based on the protein concept so there's not much in the way of potato or refined carbohydrates, however, unlike Atkins they are not excluded and there are plenty of vegetables included with each recipe to make them balanced and healthy.I've only had this book a few days but the recipes I've made so far have been delicious and easy to make and if you exclude the washing up & cooking time they really did only take 15 minutes to prepare. I love the style in which Joe Wicks narrates the book, it's all about having fun and being laid back about cooking. The serving size of recipes are all either to serve 1 or to serve 2 which is ideal for me because I'm the only one on a diet here so whilst my other diet books are to serve 4 which makes it hard work trying to divide the quantities by a quarter, now I no longer have to do that I can just cook for me and either cook 1 days worth of 2 days worth. I can highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to go on a diet that is easy, low cost, not time consuming and actually works.

A super easy way to losing weight
I am in love with the food in this book. I purchased both this and the second book (the sustain plan) to brave losing my post baby Mum-Tum. I was fed up of crash dieting, as whatever gains I seemed to make would be so easily undone by one night off the bandwagon. I was fed up of diets that required you to calorie count all day, as with a family to look after I just didn't have the time to waste deliberating over numbers. These recipes are so simple and (on the whole) quick that it is possible to lose weight and get leaner, even with a busy home and work life. I know you're not meant to be on the sad step (scales), but after 3 weeks I have lost 9lb and so many people have mentioned I look less full in the face. My partner is also on the same plan as me and he has lost 7lb. The exercises are also intense but manageable, meaning I can fit in an HIIT session during baby nap times. Just be warned; you'll have so much more washing up to do if you stick to this as a weight loss plan (3 meals a day!), and stocking up the cupboards with whole foods is costly (although as time has gone on we've needed fewer stock ingredients, bringing the price down a little). I've attached some photos of the recipes I've been making across the Shift And Shape Books. All in all, I'm feeling full, healthier, and a little bit fitter, and am super surprised at how much this book has already changed my eating habits.

Got me back into cooking and being inspired to eat healthy
My neighbour told me about Joe Wicks and what she was cooking. I was inspired by her as I like to eat clean, cook from scratch and had given up all dairy due to finally diagnosed allergy. Previously on my weight loss journey I'd lost loads following Anna Richardson's Body Blitz Diet (about 5 years ago) and I raved about her book at the time however I was also doing a lot of running and ended up losing too much weight and realising I needed to eat more is where it went wrong.Unfortunately what happened next was a lifestyle where I had to work nightshifts for two years which meant I was eating junk in the night and not exercising enough and this put me back to square one. The reason I couldn't follow Anna's book again was quite frankly I was bored with the same recipes and she didn't follow it up with anything new. What I like about this book is that there are some easy tasty recipes that are all different even if only slightly (healthier option) to what I've made before so I've hot my cooking mojo back, but importantly there are meals to eat after exercise to refuel so that if I go for a long run there is less risk of losing too much like before and maintaining energy.I left off a star as others have mentioned not many breakfast choices part from eggs or smoothies however I love eggs luckily. Also where I cannot have dairy (milk cheese butter cream yoghurt) I have had to adapt some recipes to suit. I like the fact that Joe himself is passionate and has a media presence and is not a celebrity making money with a one book deal but seems to be committed to getting the nation lean. I love his quirky meal videos some are in the book some aren't. Really happy I got this.Update since this review I have lost 1 1/2 stone and I have signed up for the 90 day sss plan. I have started Hiit workouts which are killers and I ache but finally feel that I'm doing something that is sustainable. The food is stilldelicious and not bored yet.2017 I have bought the other books. Still love the recipes. The 90 day sss is different and the food was very dull. It worked but hardcore I’ve now found balance and kept my weight steady.2018 - 2019 I’ve stopped buying diet books. What has worked is tracking my food in myfiness pal, eating in a calorie deficit, lots of steps, lifting weights to build muscle and not restricting any food. I’ve maintained a 2 stone weight loss. I still use Joes Books from time to time as the recipes are fab but adjust the quantities.
