It can play 8k YouTube videos.
This is a rather small but heavy and well built little file player box. It can do 8k 60 and it actually feeds my Sony Z9K 8k set a great video picture that is 8k from YouTube that looks excellent. It appears to have some kind of AI or something that really makes the video coming in look very sharp and crisp and provided you set all the MANY user settings properly it will play 8k video from YouTube very smoothly. It will output at whatever resolution you choose with many of the streaming services it supports or it will use the EDID protocol from your TV or whatever video device and use that, plus many options to make it work properly with just about any device you hook to it. I had to adjust the color depth on the higher resolutions to get my TV to play them right or at all but you have the ability to do that with this machine.I was very impressed with this everything box and I'm glad I bought it not knowing exactly how it would work out for me but so far with a bit of a learning curve it's been great. If you don't want to take the time to tweak it to work with your setup there may be better options for you, and being pretty new not everything works perfect first try but it's doing great for me now. There will be firmware updates as issues are fixed and features are added so keep that in mind and there's a big community online figuring these things out and helping people that need it.It's not super cheap but if you need what this little guy can do it's well worth the price.

A bit too pricey
Standard flawless HD Dune interface. Can't find the reason for internal hdd slot.Handles NAS and server mounted drives well. For a $100 less it would get 5 stars

Try a streaming stick instead
I was really disappointed when I got the Dune HD after reading all of the positive product reviews and watching reviews online. The device does _not_ live up to its hype at all, not even close. I compared picture quality from it against one of my cheap streaming devices and it performed worse in both picture quality and sound quality. Like imagine that...a cheap streaming stick performing better than an 8K dedicated player. Sound sounded muffled, video would stutter and look incorrect. There was even screen tearing. The device boasts "AI upscaling" and all that results in are white halos around dark lines, weird anti-aliasing issues when upscaling gradients (imagine seeing grids/lines instead of gradients), changing colors (orange would show up as dark brown), and weird overblown highlights. I tested the various available settings but nothing made the situation better. I've tried out a dozen other devices with my TV setup and never had these issues. For the amount of money I paid for it, I was disappointed by the performance. If you're thinking about getting this device, I'd recommend checking out a streaming stick for $40 -- and you'll actually end up with a way better result in both audio and video. Plus, the Dune doesn't even read drives correctly (one of its main features) -- it will skip files/folders and not even show them and it seems like it does so very randomly.Lastly, for some reason, the Dune HD has a premium offering in the settings which wasn't mentioned anywhere in the product description which I found weird. I didn't buy this device just to see another upsell. The only upside to the device is its really nice front display that shows you how far you are in a show/movie similar to how DVD players show the time elapsed.

Awesome :)
For a huge library it did way better than zidoo between me and my fiance we have hundreds of movies and shows purchased.. I think maybe more than a thousand files .. the app works on the tablet.. it has a learning curve but plays anything even very high bandwidth stuff with no issues .. add local drive for extrastorage for metadata and move them regularly to the new drive .. connect ur nas is a breath if u are used to those .. even it tries to take a stab at streaming which is not its primary function I say .. sorry that's all .. those are my two cents .. don't do reviews but I like that thing

I'm not here to check inventory
First unit had a inoperative power supply, checked, no output with voltmeter, tried different plugs, still did not work. Second unit, while described as new was clearly used, batteries already in remote, fake logins to Netflix. Even movies watched from Netflix. I will be trying a third time, but I am not a product tester for Amazon/Dune. The third unit will be my last order, if it is not new or it is defective, I'm done with Dune.

great media player
This little one is more powerful than the their last flagship model and i love that model. Buy this one if you like compact. well built machine and fast. Slap a SSD drive in and watch that beautiful response time.
