Yes, I use the cage for my Canon M camera, I had to cut off a small piece of the metal to allow the battery to be changed. I used a hack saw, no big deal.

The canon EOS R is more so the size of the dslr line up for canon. While the EOS R is mirrorless, it is larger than the EOS M
