Seems to work well
I got these for a 7 string and a 6 string with larger strings. I haven't played guitar for years so I tend to hit extra strings. It has helped with sloppy playing and unwanted noise. It's not the cheapest solution. You could just get a hair tie but I wanted something that is well made and adjustable. Its a bit bulky but looks fine on a black guitar. It's functional and easy to move in front of or behind the nut.

Seems Pointless
I noticed a lot of bassists with these little bands on their bass necks and inquired on the purpose. I was told they were supposed to help dampen open strings and control overtones on open notes. I decided to try it.First, let me say that this Ernie Ball branded fret wrap is very nice. It is well made and fit perfectly around the neck of my Fender Precision at the nut. The materials are soft and sturdy, and it looks nice and unobtrusive. I am quite pleased with the quality of the product. However, it doesn't seem to serve any function that makes any positive difference to my sound or tone. I have placed it in various positions and experimented with tension to no great result. The best has been that it does nothing and the worst has been that it inhibits playing in one way or another. It may be that thirty years of playing without this thing has developed my technique such that I don't need this tool. If that is the case, then I don't understand why anyone needs it.So, while I can't recommend having a fret wrap, I can highly recommend this Ernie Ball version to anyone who is determined to get one.

Good purchase. Still testing.
Received the item quickly and it is as advertised. Fits the neck of my bass well and does mute the strings. I like the idea of what this does for certain situations when playing especially when first beginning. However, I have played for several years before this and learned how to mute the strings myself. Wanted to see how this item performed compared to normal muting and what situations I can use it in when playing. Can say for beginners it can be helpful but shouldn't be a replacement for learning to mute by hand.

Excellent tool to manage string noise
Great product. Fits my acoustic, electric 6 string guitars as well as a 4 string bass. Really does help mute out excess string noise for cleaner sounding runs while performing or recording

A must for recording
And absolute must when recording lead lines. Stray string rings? Forget about it.

Quality, Performance and Reliability
I needed to stop string rattle at the nut especially during my recording sessions. I picked the Erie Ball Fretwrap because their products are always made and finsished properly. It's easy to install and also easy to remove. It did what I needed it to do. Definitely recommend this particular Ernie Ball fretwrap.
