Pretty handy
First and foremost, READ and FOLLOW the instructions!! These are tricky to use, especially the first time, and really especially if you are trying to cut your own hair. Read and follow the instructions!Umm, and also don’t expect a salon quality cut - these don’t replace a trained stylist! But if you can lower your expectations of having a glamorous cut and style, they can keep you from just completely shaving all of your hair off in a hormonal rage. Good product, and a pretty innovative idea.

Awful
Could not possibly suck any worse! I knew when I saw them on TV. It probably was not as easy as it looked, it’s not. I can’t believe anybody keeps these, except for the fact they were cheap, and it’s too much trouble to send them back!My money is on the fact, that 99% of them are laying unused in somebody’s medicine cabinet. Or have already been thrown away.

Recommend for cutting consistent length of layers
I’ve tried a lot of home haircut tools and this is one that really works well. My husband likes the ease of cutting layers in my hair with the 6” fin. I was happy with results. We recommend this product for easier haircuts.

Interesting concept, but has a steep learning curve
"Steep" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it isn't very intuitive from the start. I'm not sure how much easier it is to use this versus just using your hands. I get that this is a great way to keep the cuts uniform and even, but it is an odd feeling trying to keep it in your hands and grab hair evenly at the same time. It's definitely "awkward" to use at first, but I think with some practice it could be a nice way to get an even cut (self) on the top of my longer hair.7/10 I would recommend it. I hope this review is helpful.

Useful/Doable. Acceptable for a DIY haircut
Not sure why others are so harsh about being able to use these....you just need to do it right, but it does take some getting used to. However, it's just a "basic length cut" for yourself. Works for getting the length done, but then I still have to have someone else help me straighten the "neck line" in the back, and there's a trick to blending if using different lengths. But with that, my haircut isn't half bad. Not amazing, but good enough for a DIY haircut, which saves money and makes this a valuable purchase.

A handy tool. Well worth the money!
My roommate, who'd been doing my hair for a couple of years now, moved out and I was looking for a way to get the job done myself. This did the trick!I used the longest one and it was a bit awkward but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. Just make sure you hold the fin the right way and it's pretty easy after that. I will say that using electric clippers to cut was much easier than trying to work with scissors. Other reviews have mentioned to expect a slightly choppy cut, which works fine for my hair style, but I think with patience you could get a pretty clean look.

Takes Practice
I only just got these, so I have all of one use under my belt. I have been cutting my own hair for years, using only my fingers and eyes as a guide. For me, they really took the guess work out of how much to cut off. Yes, it was a little awkward, but so are most things, the first time you do it. Bottom line, I got a really nice haircut in the end.

Hair cutting guides
It takes good coordination to use these. I don't have that.
