I have brown skin. Will it leave a white ashy look?

Yes, this is a Zinc Oxide sun tan lotion. That means it intentionally is not meant to absorb into the skin like other chemical sun screens, but instead is meant to form a physical barrier on the top layer of skin. Adults tend to get the one that absorbs since it looks better, kids typically (or adults who worry about chemicals) tend to get this type since while its the stereo typical white face, thats what it was designed for. Depending on SPF level and quality of the product some certainly are better or worse than others.

Would this be appropriate for daily moisturizer underneath make up? Would it be too thick/greasy?

It's too thick and leaves a white residue. I like the tint EltaMD for under make up that one is wonderful leaves your skin soft and covers up small imperfections so it can worn alone or under make up. Hope that helps

Why does this have so many chemicals in “inactive ingredients“?

I have a severe allergic reaction to sunscreen ingredients and this is the ONLY one I can use without any reaction at all. Those chemicals must not be harmful.

blends nicely, physical sunblock

Dermatologist recommended this. Physical sun block, that blends in easily. I use this one with the darker pigment one for a natural tan color.

Take your time to rub it in and the white cast dissapears

This is becoming my favorite sunscreen. I've tried about 5 mineral facial SPFs so far, and this is a good non-comedogenic one. It takes a few seconds of rubbing in to get that transparency on the face, but after enough rubbing, it leaves the skin glowing and moisturized all day( reapply as needed). Will purchase again.

Not greasy and absorbs easily. Many sunscreens break my children’s skin out, but eltamd never does.

Decent sunscreen

I’m using this product as it is listed as pregnancy safe. There aren’t that many sunscreens that are pregnancy safe, this is a decent option. The white cast is prominent in the beginning of application but fades with a bit of time. If you are sensitive to smells, this product does have a scent so be aware of that. Like other sunscreens, you have to make sure to shake the bottle to mix the product before you dispense it, otherwise it will be a lot of oil coming out. Overall it’s a decent sunscreen, but I probably would not use it if I wasn’t pregnant

Nice texture and good coverage, blends well

Goes on face nicely and blends in. Not sticky, greasy or too thick. I use on myself and my daughter since she was 6.

Whish I could return this allergy unfriendly product

Tried this sunscreen because it was marketed as “allergy-friendly” and “suitable for sensitive skin.” What a joke. Within minutes of applying it, my face started burning and itching, and I ended up with a full-blown reaction that took hours to calm down. Absolutely nothing about this product feels gentle or safe. The worst part? I only just opened it and now I can’t return it. Total waste of money and a completely misleading label. If you have even remotely sensitive skin, avoid this one.
