The Perfect Fit
Excellent. This 5" office chair hydraulic worked out just right. The lowest level was more than adequate. The highest level actually allowed an average person to just touch the floor with the tips of your shoes. It made a world of difference from the 23" hydraulic the chair initially came with for the height adjustable table. My wife is very pleased with her chair now.

Great product.. can be challenging to install
Exactly as advertised, it fit perfectly and I love the chair again! one thing to keep in mind: getting the old cylinder out can be challenging. I used a rubber mallet and a fair number of hits before the legs popped off. Other than that, it was quick and easy!

I had to alter the cylinder to make it work with my chair
I own a Steelcase office chair. Its gas lift cylinder wasn’t tall enough for my studio and it started to sag after a few hours of sitting. Along comes this OmyOffice 5 1/2” gas lift cylinder. First of all it took an act of congress to get my current cylinder uninstalled. You’ll need a large pipe wrench. I also tried using a large rubber mallet. It took me a while. Once I got the new one installed I could position the chair much higher than before, however when I sat down the chair lowered all the say to the bottom. I thought the new cylinder was defective. Turns out that the mechanism that depressed the button on the top of the cylinder on my chair had a screw. The original button on the original cylinder was kind of recessed. So with the new cylinder the button was pressed regardless of what the chair lever was doing. I ended up having to cut some of the plastic button off on the new cylinder, thus shortening the height of the button. That fixed the problem and the cylinder works perfectly. I suspect that is not common to all the other chairs out there, but if your chair won’t stay up that might be why. It arrived quickly and I’d buy it again.

Did the Job - Better than the original!
Why did you pick this product vs others?:My old cylinder had the dreaded slowly sinking issue when I sat on it. I would guess it was 10 years old and the cushions were still in great shape. I paid over $400.00 for the chair so I thought I would rebuild it and use it for my workbench in the basement.Ease of assembly:I saw a lot of YouTube videos that showed that it was tough to get the cylinder off the chair bracket. I used a heat gun at 300 degrees and a pipe wrench to loosen the old one, it made it easy. On the chair base there is a c-clip which I removed that held in the old cylinder and I was able to use a mallet to knock out the old housing. Fit:Perfect fit and I am very happy. I also replaced the wheels with single roller wheels which I also got from Amazon - See my other review. The chair is like brand new for under $50.00I would do this same repair again.Scale =1 Star - I don’t recommend - Returned;2 Stars - Don't Recommend - Kept Product;3 Stars - Recommend - Meets Expectations;4 Stars - Recommend - Exceeds Expectations;5 Stars - Perfect 10 (rare)

Well made, fits any chair.
I bought this to use in my new office chair at home. It doubles the weight capacity of the one provided, the only issue I have is it won't let the chair rise or lower. But that's a trade off I'm willing to deal with for added support.

saved my big & tall chair
I have an oversized office chair from a reputable brand, and one day the gas cylinder went kaput (it was rated for 450 lbs due to it being the Big & Tall model). Under their warranty they shipped me a new cylinder, which arrived from Canada damaged and had lost most of its pressure/resistance so you could push it all the way down just pressing with your hand. Since I had already waited almost two weeks to get my chair working again, I opted to just buy a "heavy duty" cylinder on Amazon. It was delivered to the office within 2-days and is also superior in quality and construction to my previous *two* cylinders. I love that the 5.5" option gives me a little more height (I am 6' 5" and have long legs), and it isn't even a little spongy when I sit down. Although it was a hassle to me that my best option was NOT sticking with the warranty, rather paying for the part out-of-pocket...it was cheaper than most options and performs better than the original did when it was new. For this reason, it's a 5-star product to me between the value and utility I get from it.

Easy five minute installation.
I suffered with a chair that would not stay in the correct position for months. For under 25 dollars, this was a long awaited fix for a three hundred dollar chair. Easy to replace and now the chair is like brand new. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner. Got it on time, installed in minutes, works like the description said it would. What more could you want?

Better than the Original
I have been using this hydraulic chair shaft for nearly a year. It's very heavy duty and sturdy. It was very easy to remove the old shaft and put in the new one. The old shaft lost its pressure and the seat would sink slowly over time. This one hasn't has one problem. If you need a new seat support shaft that is easy to install, this one will work fine.
