You could mount them on the side of the window instead of the bottom lined up with how much you like to keep them open.

Yes.. it actually comes with double sided mounting tape.

It has one double chime when opened in chime mode. Kind of like the old department store chimes when you walk in. When set to the alarm mode it's a continuous siren until you shut it.
