I can’t get these supports to compress at all!? It’s fairly cold here, warmed them up in a 120 oven for a cpl minutes, they still won’t budge at all?

These supports could not be pressed by hand, because it will require hundreds of newton force. Here is the simple installation instruction: Make the hatch under the top position, and then take off the old supports by pressing the back steel clip via screwdriver. After that, you just need to attach new supports on the car.

Is this what i need to open and close the top part of the rear door to my 1996 toyota land cruiser? mine falls down on my head if not holding up.

Yes it is! I had the same problem in my 1994 fjz80 Toyota Land Cruiser. Removed the old ones and installed these...problem solved! These work perfectly
