Can this be used on grass?

Yes. It shreddes quickly. I would recommend something stronger for grass or gravel. We just had it on a wood deck. Didn't last the summer.

Does it get hot in direct sunlight, since is plastic?

Being plastic, It does in extreme hot conditions. The colors reverse on the opposite side. Being whole seller/ manufacturer BalajeesUSA rugs r the best in its class for the low price. Some of The rugs from other brands that are selling are 3 times the price of these. Total ripoff in my opinion.

I bought this rug last summer., for the patio.. lasted 2 months then literally came apart in shreds! Anyone else had that experience?

Yes I bought 4 of these rugs in April and one is completely shredded and another is starting to shred. The two others are fine. I purchased the grey with orange in 6x9. I had the striped in 2020 and for the the most part they lasted a lot longer! Very disappointed with the ones from April!

I'd like to put this indoors under a kid's craft table. Is it too slippery for their solid plastic chairs?

With kids being kids I would say it may be a bit too slippery. I was trying to think of thing to put on the legs to make them less so - the silicone material they make those bakeware items out of - coasters? - could be glued to the leg ends. The rug itself would be ideal. I love mine.
