Quality bird diet
The price went up on these recently, but my cockatiel refuses to eat any pellets. I figure these are better than just a regular seed mix, and compromised with him, and the berries are at least something for them to pick and forage at. They smell very similar to granola bars! Although I think most people use them for treats, I do feed him this as his main diet, which the company says is fine to do.They do clump some, especially toward the middle/bottom, and sometimes some batches are much crumblier than others, but overall the tub lasts a very long time and the quality is usually excellent.

LittleBully, Spotty and Blue-Blue love their Nutri-Berries and Classic Avi-Cakes
The media could not be loaded. This is my 10th order with Lafeber/Amazon, and I have found solutions to the concerns expressed here by bird owners like me. In general, we agree it is a good product. As for my budgies, they can't wait to get their fresh breakfast and dinner servings, so they also agree. I communicated with Lafeber to ask if there was a loose bird seed product available and was told the bucket is a very good choice, in my case, a no loose product available. As soon as I receive the bucket, I learned to transfer the product in sealed containers, therefore, there is never a block of seeds to contend with. I use a chopper to break the little balls and I do this every 3-4 days. My budgies are older now, they have developed the strong beak they need to break up the Nutri-Berries, so I expect I will stop using the loud chopper very soon. In the meantime, they also eat the classic avi-cakes to satisfy their foraging needs; fruits and veggies 2-3 times/week on a skewer and they seem to enjoy that. To encourage bathing, I place whole lettuce leaves in their bath and they eat that as well. That's about all I can share.

These get the Sammy-boo seal of approval!
My little girl loves these! She plays with them by tossing them around her cage (and eats them too, of course!). The smaller size of these compared with the parrot Nutri Berries is perfect for her little seed-chomping beak. I like to put a few in her food bowl and throughout her cage, and I serve them with Rowdybush pellets. They keep her occupied, and are lovely little foraging snacks.

Nutri-Berries for a long healthy life for your pet birds! (+fresh veggies/fruit, millet)
Edit: the price of this product has doubled in recent years. That’s faster than the rate of inflation. Lower the price on this product Lafaeber! …My 2 budgerigars love eating Nutri-Berries and it is nutritionally balanced with all the nutrition of pellets. I bought Lafeber pellets too but the parakeets more readily eat this stuff. I plan on transitioning their food to human grade foods: grains/seeds, mixed with pellets and giving them Nutri-Berries as a treat. Oh yeah, and a poached egg 1x/month for protein requirements in their diet. I'd rather give my pet birds fresh, whole, living, human grade foods than processed foods. Right now I feed them Nutri-Berries, organic greens, and a little spray millet. I put the greens in a shallow container of water and the birds like to bathe and eat the greens at the same time. Eventually I'll start giving the budgies grated carrot, fruit, and other budgie friendly foods. One thing I've learned is that you have to give your pet birds fresh veggies almost everyday along with a nutritionally balanced food mix like Nutri-Berries. My last budgie I had came down with chronic respiratory wheezing and I learned the cause was a nutritional deficiency from a world class bird vet. Other budgies I've had died within 4-5 years after I was feeding them only seed. They should live 10 years or more if taken care of properly. I think Nutri-Berries is way better than just giving your parakeets seed. Nutri-Berries even contain protein from eggs. The budgies readily eat these out of my hand so I know they love them. I've even eaten a couple myself because they smell so good! My budgies are now almost 10 years old using nutriberries as their main food. Unfortunately one has a diseased liver. Not sure what caused it but it makes me think nutriberries may not be the perfect bird food but much better than commercial seed mixes.

You might receive a 3lb Nutriberry and some regular sized ones...haha
We normally buy this item but not in three four pound bucket. The product itself is good but the packing in this bucket looks terrible at first. I bought and paid for the processing and manufacturing of individual nuggets, not a big block of seed. Disappointed and discouraged in how it arrived.EDIT: Later that day it seemed to have absorbed some humidity and became more manageable. I found that by breaking off large chunks, it was relatively easy to separate individual "berries" from the chunk. Trying to separate berries from the main block was not fruitful as it led to a lot of crumbling. Grab the block and break of a handful sized piece, then you'll have more success.Product itself is loved by the birds.

Provides a heathly daily diet that my bird loves, as long as I store it right
I loved the 12.5 oz container of this so much, I went and bought the 4-pound bucket afterwards. That was back in late February 2014. Right now, it's early September. But then something bad -- and entirely predictable -- happened to the bird food.I've got just one budgie. And while one budgie can handle a 12.5 oz container for 4 months from fall to winter, trying to go through a 4-pound bucket of food for 8 months from spring to summer meant that the eating was slow. And with the current heat wave, Indian Meal Moth larvae started to hatch from the bird seed. I quickly had worms and sticky webbing growing in the container. This is NOT the fault of the product itself. It happens all the time to raw pantry items like rice and oats. And I still love Lafeber's and their Nutri-Berries line to death. I just want to remind beginners like myself that even dry goods like bird seed don't keep indefinitely. In the summer, I'd recommend storing some of this food in the fridge if you've got the space for it. It's not 100% guaranteed to destroy larvae eggs, but it'll extend the life of the product.
