Very satisfied
I purchased this for my husband for Father’s Day because my daughters were purchasing the high-powered blower. Both are excellent in ability and in power. It’s so nice not to have the cord behind the leaf blower. We have a large yard and it works well for that.

Best battery available imo
I've purchased 4 off brand 6ah batteries. All died within a year. My original Ryobi 4ah is going strong 4 years later. Power doesn't sag much when put on a heavy load, ex mowing tall wet grass. It does have a overheat protection built in to prevent damage. I have 3 of these Ryobi batteries now and won't purchase other brands anymore. Live and learn. These cost more than cheap off brand batteries, but they pay for themselves by lasting years at a time and having a high steady output. It may be tempting to get 2x 6ah batteries for the price of this one, but don't do it! They have power sags and fail quickly. Save yourself money and buy Ryobi batteries.

Good value and reliable
Knock-off brands of these batteries are cheaper but not always reliable. I have a Ryobi lawn mower I use these batteries for. It came with a 6 amp hour battery which is considerably larger and heavier than the 4 amp hour shown here. For that difference in size and weight it runs maybe 10 minutes longer. So I opted for the 4 amp hour battery. I need to be able to mow for two hours or so and three of these allow that (if I put the first empty battery back in the charger right away so it has time to recharge so I can reuse it without interruption).

Seems like a genuine product
I was worried that this might not be a genuine Ryobi product but it looks identical to the one I already have that I bought from the home depot. Hopefully, Ryobi will make their prices more competitive though. They used to be the more affordable option on the market but now seem to be just as expensive as the other big brands. FWI do not leave your battery plugged into the charger after it is charged. That will hurt the battery. When the battery is fully charged, disconnect the battery from the charger and place it in a room that is climate-controlled. If the battery is left in a shed or a garage that is exposed to extremely cold and warm temperatures, it will shorten the lifespan of the battery. I have 3 of the 40 volt, 4 amp batteries and they have lasted over a year so far with very little degradation. I always keep them indoors when not in use and never leave them on the charger once they are fully charged. Keep in mind that even if you unplug the charger from the wall you still should disconnect the battery from the charger as the circuit board in the battery can start to miss-calculate how much energy is in the battery. This is a problem that hopefully Ryobi will fix in the future.

Charger design is terrible. Battery is great.
The way the charger fits onto the battery is terrible. The cord placement is poorly thought out. No indicator light.

Awesome to have a back-up battery and charger for Ryobi mower
I am a volunteer caretaker of a formerly abandoned 7-acre cemetery. We volunteers do all the mowing, among other things. I didn't want to use a gas-powered mower because of the pollution/exhause, so I bought a battery-operated Ryobi and I'm thrilled with it. I've been using it for 3 years now without a single problem.I bought this battery and charger so I could have another battery at the ready and extend my mowing time. I get about 30 to 45 minutes on a battery charge, depending on how long the grass is. The longer the grass, the more quickly the battery gets used up. The grass is usually longer in the cemetery than what you might mow at home, so you might get more time on a charge than that. We can't mow all of the 7 acres each week as volunteers.I'm very satisfied with the quality of this battery and charger.

Works great. No way to mount charger to wall
This battery charged up fine and works great in my mower. It powered the mower (through thick tall grass) for about an hour. The charger is very lightweight. There isn't a way to mount it the way that, for example, Dewalt chargers have holes that allow you to mount them on screws to a wall. The battery is heavy though, and significantly larger than the charger, so maybe that's why they don't encourage wall mounting. The battery gets very hot when in use, but I was able to touch it with bare hands after mowing for an hour in 100 degree weather. It cooled quickly once back inside. Not sure what else to say about a battery and charger but this was my first time using Ryobi anything. I got a Ryobi mower with no battery from my brother, so I bought this battery and charger. I've tended toward Dewalt and Craftsman over Ryobi for power tools, but I am super impressed with the Ryobi mower. Never used anything but gas operated lawn appliances in the past. The power was way more than I expected for a battery powered mower. It chewed through tall grass better than my last gas push mower. Even my gas riding mower slows down with this grass and the Ryobi electric mower was fine. So overall, I'm very impressed with the power this brand packs. I won't hesitate to buy more tools and batteries from Ryobi going forward.
