No you cannot put hot food in these containers.

Q: How do these do if heating something like soup in a microwave? Do they hold up or do they melt?

I wouldn't bother. These are not rated for high temperatures at all. It's a salad bowl. Soup bowls are typically made with a different material, usually a stiff, coated cardboard, or maybe a styrofoam that's rated for high temps. Think Cup O'Noodles. This is a rather thin, flimsy plastic. Great for salads. I wouldn't trust it with 200 degree soup though.
