My guess. **Q: Can this set be used with clear finishes such as nitro cellulose lacquer?** A: I have never tried this. But I cannot see any reason that it wouldn’t work. I have only shot expensive three part aircraft paint with it. The thing is that this air brush sprays a very thin coat of paint. So you have to make multiple passes to get as much paint in place as you would get with just one pass of a touch up gun. Good luck. GHW **Q: Do i need to thin the paint that comes with it or use it as is?** A: Depends, on how thick the paint is, and what your trying to achieve, I've done both **Q: can this be used to apply liquid body paint?** A: Yes, no problem. Although I don't know what kind of paint is best for body painting, cake decorating, motorcycle gas tanks, etc. The airbrush simply doesn't care and will spray whatever you put in it provided it's thin enough. For general art painting on paper or metal, I've been using regular acrylic paint and thinning it with Windex, which is basically ammonia. I'm are they sell special body paints, but I'd assume it's the same acrylic with a more aggressive thinner like alcohol or even something like toluene or acetone. My husband suggested I give airbrushing a shot. After some research I came across this listing and decided to get it without the air tank, you can get them cheaper at harbor freight if I decided I wanted. I was surprised the compressor is actually quiet (compared to compressors I’d been around before) and even with it running constantly while I work my husband can still game with his friends on the other side of the room without complaints.The guns (2gravity fed ones) ante easy to use and quick to learn. They are tricky to clean but I feel like that comes with the territory. I clean them before and after each use in case I missed some paint when I did my after cleaning.Now I’ll admit when I bought I only read that it came with 3 guns, I didn’t read what they were for. I was excited when I read what they were for. If the 2 metal ones you have the “large” area gun ( I use the most) and a detail one. The last is for culinary or makeup application. I haven’t used it yet but as a cosplayer I’m excited to try it for my next big makeup job.Overall I am extremely pleased with this kit and I recommend it to anyone, not just beginners.Oh and buy lots of cleaner ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decent starter airbrush *by on Reviewed in the United States September 6, 2019* I've never used an airbrush before. That being said, I knew I wanted one, and had been watching reviews.This set came up on a suggested purchase list and I decided to bite the bullet, getting this and an additional cleaning set (I had watched a lot of YouTube recommendations).The kit came with everything I needed. The quality is solid, and while I know these aren't top of the line by any means, they'll do me just fine for a long time. The compressor was easy to figure out, as was cleaning (watch YouTube, it's a life saver). The paint included is more than enough to get started, the thinner and cleaner nice additions. I'll be honest, the included instructions are mediocre, but it's pretty self explanatory overall.The only thing not included that I would recommend is teflon tape for the air line connection into the airbrush itself. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great set, but could include a couple more items *by on Reviewed in the United States January 8, 2013* I purchased this set for my kids as a starter set to see if they would enjoy it and they were excited about using it. After reading on the paint bottles, it is recommended that the paints be thinned for anything with a .5 nozzle or smaller, meaning the 2 gravity feed guns. They recommend a thinner that you have to purchase separate, but I didn't know this until they opened the paints on Christmas morning and we were trying to figure out how to use them. Also, a cleaner is needed to clean the gun. You can use the reducer but they also have a cleaner. If these couple items were included in the set, it would be wonderful. I do not have any stores around that sell airbrush anything, so I needed to make another order of needed items before we could try it out. Also got more bottles for the siphon feed sprayer, and a book on how to use it all.This could be a lot of fun once we have all of the accessories needed to keep it clean and running right. We have used it a couple times and it works great. Cleaning takes a little while but once we get the hang of it, it should go faster. All in All, I would purchase this item again.
