This is my guinea pigs favorite hay. It’s expensive but so worth it. 90% of it is always super green and fresh which other brands are not even close. Also it doesn’t have that bad hay smell and doesn’t mess with my allergies.

I have purchased this hay consecutively for 4 years now and specifically 16 times over the past year. I have 4 guinea pigs who plow through hay. This hay is tasty and wonderful, HOWEVER, statistically... 2 out of every 10 boxes I'll order is crappy. In the "bad boxes" the hay will be super super dusty and short making it extremely messy/dusty to use and undesirable to the pigs. It seems those "bad boxes" are the bottom of their bin/harvest. I wish the company would quality control those "bottom barrel" scraps and not sell them because i end up throwing the box away almost immediately due to unhappy pigs, the dusty mess, and uselessness. I will continue to buy their product but it's a gamble. Unfortunately my last box was a waste of $28 - I attached the photo of the "short hay" and notice the intense dust along the bag! Overall the product is worth the money, but don't be shocked if you get a "bad box"

Great quality as always. I recommend inspecting the bags/boxes, for any possible trash or dead animals. I found an animal foot in mine, but that doesn’t change its quality and consistency. My rabbit love this brand.

My bunnies have been eating this hay (mixed with timothy hay) for 3 years and they love it. The quality is consistently good.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:We have 4 bunnies and they prefer this over anything else. We buy in bulk so we don't run out.

I have been on the regular subscription for the 9 lb orchard grass for a while. I agree with the review that 8 of 10 boxes are great. I received a box a few months ago that was half hay dust. It was the first bad box i got. The pieces were chopped up so fine that i had to sift through it for usable hay for my guinea pigs and had to get an extra box before my next ship date because so much got tossed. The next box was fine. But i just opened the most recent box and its garbage. I realize hay is a natural product and there can be "surprises" but the harvester clearly ran over some large woody plants that are certainly not hay. It is chopped up through the entire 9 pound box. Since this is , at the moment, what i have, i spent a fair amount of time picking through it almost strand by strand to remove what ever is in the box. It could not have been quality checked because it is quite a good amount of field debris of some sort.

I run a Calvary, Rattery & Rescue for Guinea Pigs & Rats. And needing larger quantities of Hay is a given. Going through 50lbs of Hay a month. So when I found OxBow carried their Hays in larger quantities I was excited because there 4-9lbs and smaller have been fantastic. Perfectly cut for Guinea Pigs, fresh , & low dust quality.However, I was extremely disappointed in the products I received.1. The Hay was more appropriately sized for a Goat or Horse than Guinea Pigs or Rabbits (which is what this product is marketed to) they could have at least cut it in half or fourths for their 25lbs boxes and fourths or sixths for their 50lbs boxes.2. It was extremely dusty, with nearly 2lbs worth of dust in the 25lbs boxes. And 5lbs in the 50lbs box I bought off of Chewy.3. The Hay was not fresh at all. With large sections being brown, yellow or turning.4. The Letter they put in as a cop out to knowing they were providing less than quality service made me even more livid with the situation.This product is nothing like the OxBow Brand that my family knows and loves. And we buy all of our animal food products from this company (for Rats and Guinea Pigs).They could easily use the same cut of Hay they use for all their smaller packaging and just layer it in the boxes or individually wrap each set so it stays fresher as the customer goes through the product.Cannot believe I have to write a negative review for OxBow.

This is a big ol quantity of orchard grass for a great price. I love the convenience of it coming to my door, and the guinea pig is super happy about having the hay. Win-win!
