Quick, Easy Chopping That Saves Time
This chopper is very helpful in the kitchen and makes prep work much faster. It cuts vegetables and fruits quickly into even pieces, which saves a lot of time. The blades are sharp and work well on things like onions, peppers, and more. I like that it comes with a container on the bottom, so everything stays neat and doesn’t make a mess. It’s simple to use and easy to clean, which is important for everyday cooking. The size is also good and doesn’t take up too much space. Overall, it’s a great tool if you want to speed up chopping and keep things more organized in the kitchen.

A comparison
Other reviewers have done a good job of explaining the use and features of this chopper. Having experienced the relative merits of two different brands of choppers, I want to focus on the comparisons between these two, the Vidalia Chop Wizard and the Progressive Prepworks GP-4000 chopper. The Vidalia Wizard was the first manual chopper I owned. I loved that tool, and used it almost every day. The worst thing was always having to get it out of the dishwasher and rinse it off so I could use it for the next meal. My daughter loved it too, and it was pressed into service for chopping large batches of veggies for canned salsa. We even used it at a family reunion to make a huge batch of fresh salsa. Well. as my husband would comment occasionally, the chopper was not designed for commercial use, and eventually it broke at the hinges. I lived without a chopper for awhile, but I found that I was spoiled. When I spied a chopper called the Progressive that came with not two but THREE cutter grids, a side-cutter, and its own plastic storage case, I bought it and gleefully brought it home to begin chopping. Now the Progressive chopper looks good. It has a sturdier appearance than the Vidalia, and I really liked the idea of that extra slicer grid. But, sadly, when it comes to chopping, I found this chopper lacking. The reason is not mysterious. The Vidalia Wizard has MUCH sharper blades. Of course it will cut your vegetables and other foods more easily. I have particularly weak hands, so this may not be as important to you as it is to me, but everyone in my family who used both choppers noticed the difference. What happened at my house is that after awhile I no longer bothered to pull out the Progressive chopper. The old fashioned knife was almost as easy to use, if not as quick, and certainly easier to wash up. I have just received a new Vidalia Chop Wizard, and I'm back in the business of chopping large amounts of veggies with ease and efficiency. I could wish it had a slicer grid, and a neat plastic box to store the unit in, but what I really want in a chopper is...a chopper! And with the Vidalia Chop Wizard, that's what I've got.

Best chopper/dicer ever made (in my opinion)
I use this device nearly 4-5 times a week and actually am on my fourth one (over many years) It is quick and efficient. I am glad to see several improvements in the design over the years. It's now "nearly perfect". Seriously, it really does a great job.

Favorite tool in the kitchen
I love to cook for my family, but I am the worst onion cutter on the face of the planet. Literally. Like awful. It's embarrassing actually. In fact, I'm so ashamed of my onion cutting abilities, or lack thereof, that I've even tried to hide it from my husband of 15 years (who also loves to cook by the way) by suggesting nicely "hey, babe, ya mind cutting up that onion for me while I (insert made up excuse here)?". My cut up onion always results in my crying. From both the onion itself (hate that!) and the always end result of my hacked up sad, ugly onion being different shapes and sizes, widths and lengths. Sort of like how no two snowflakes are the same. Like I could teach kids their shapes with my onions. This is a square, this is a triangle, this is a rectangle, this is a circle, this is a rhombus, this is a scalene triangle, this is a polygon, this is a trapezoid. The onion can be cut into different pretty shapes on purpose(!) for different meals. Like finely chopped into little cute cubes for tacos or your spinach dip, or medium sized cubes for your omelette, or julienne cut for sausages, or even razor blade thin circles for your salad or medium sized thickness circles for your cheeseburger. I freaking can't do any of them properly. Our 9 year old has even picked up on my incompetent vegetable cutting skills during Taco Tuesday dinners. But, I fear no more as I am the proud owner of the Chop Wizard. Hallelujah. I have proclaimed it to be my favorite best tool in the kitchen. My husband doesn't agree though because his chopping abilities are spectacular and his vegetables always turn out beautiful and the same size and shape and width and length. So now I don't cry anymore while chopping my onions with my handy gadget Chop Wizard. Because #1, they are the same size and shape, width and length and #2 the fumes don't get into my eyes because this thing chops it so fast it doesn't even have enough time to waft into my face, and the catch container helps trap the fumes. The catch container also makes it easy to just take the lid off and dump everything into your pot, pan or bowl. I do recommend you use the larger cutter for your green, yellow, orange, and red peppers because the smaller one kind of just disintegrates the peppers. Yes, sometimes I have to put all my might into pushing this chopper, but it's still quicker than chopping by hand for me. Also, my 9 year old always requests to chop a couple things, as he has a blast doing it. On a side note, I do wish it came with 2 little brushes for cleaning the insert discs... kind of like a mascara brush style... one for the little insert disc and a little bit thicker one to clean larger insert disc. The plastic comb that comes with it cleans the top plastic lid of the chopper wonderfully and easily in my opinion, but the actual cleaning of the metal choppers can be a pain sometimes. Two brushes would help immensely with those or maybe a brush could be attached to the other end of the plastic comb cleaner or something. But to me it's worth the extra time and some hassle washing them because I have some good looking professionally cut veggies, and totally looks like I belong on Top Chef. And yes, this product will break if you put too big of a piece in there and slam it down unevenly. I sadly broke the lid doing just this. But I do use this so often that I've definitely got my money's worth out of it, and it's worth it to me to just purchase another one.

The best food chopper we have found.
This is a very useful kitchen tool. The product is as represented. No significant assembly is required. Just put the lid in place and chop away. We use it to chop, onions bell peppers, and most any other food items that lends itself to chopper use. The chopper comes with two size blades to permit small or larger square cuts, and includes a fork-like tool for cleaning food particles from the chopper blades. The blades are metal and sharp. Other than the metal blades, the tool parts are made of heavy plastic. The Chop Wizard is easy to clean after use. There are three main components: a lid, blades, and collection bin. We have used a tool of this kind for years. The Vidalia Chop Wizard is the best we have found.

“Chops Perfectly Every Time!”
The Vidalia Chop Wizard has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen tools. It’s incredibly simple to use — just place your veggies on the grid, press down, and you get perfectly even pieces every time. The stainless steel blades are sharp and efficient, making prep work so much faster than chopping by hand. I especially love how consistent the cuts are, which makes salads, salsas, and meal prep look cleaner and more professional. The 2‑cup base is a great size for everyday cooking, and the measuring marks are surprisingly handy when recipes call for a specific amount of chopped ingredients. It’s also a huge plus that your hands never go near the blades, so it feels safe to use even when you’re rushing through dinner prep. Cleanup is easier than I expected — a quick rinse and the included cleaning tool take care of any bits stuck in the grid. The whole unit feels sturdy, well‑made, and built to last. Overall, the Vidalia Chop Wizard is a fantastic time‑saver that delivers exactly what it promises: fast, uniform chopping with minimal effort. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to speed up kitchen prep without pulling out a bulky appliance.

Vidalia Chop Wizard, Vegetable and Fruit Chopper
I believe I purchased my first Vidalia Chop Wizard in the 1990's. Last week a piece of plastic finally broke off. I was in a panic. Fortunately, I found a new one on Amazon. This is one thing I use for cooking that I just can't be without. Slicing onions or any other veggies and fruits is a breeze with the Vidalia Chop Wizard. Cleaning is easy too. I just put it on the top rack of my dishwasher. A must have for any cook!

The product cracked but working now after replacement container
The box container below the chopper cracked while chopping a simple small onion. This is not acceptable. However upon contacting the seller, they immediately despatched a new replacement container and the product is delivering good performance with chopping.
