Buy this thing if you have a need to crush cans. It’s good. Good value. Sturdy. Easy to use. Buy it!
I love this thing! It’s not super easy to put together. You will have to use your brain a little bit and read the directions. The directions are VERY good. Step by step. You can’t really do it wrong, though. The handle thing pretty much only fits on it one way. I was skeptical because so much of it is made of plastic, but I have been working this thing HARD for a few weeks now (I had bags full of uncrushed cans-and we drink a lot of soda daily. Like-an unhealthy amount). I’ve crushed at least 300 cans in this thing over 3 weeks. One day, I crushed about 100 cans in one go. It’s super easy and it feels sturdy. The basket is a bit flimsy, but as long as you use it as it’s meant to be used and don’t like, hit it with a hammer or accidentally fall on it or something, I think it will continue to do its job. The directions say to oil the pin on the handle thing every once in a while and that seems like good advice. I haven’t needed to oil mine yet, but I plan to about once every month or two. Make sure you mount it on a stud or something sturdy (I’m pretty sure it will not stay in drywall alone). If a can flops down crooked, it’s very easy to reach thru the basket and re-align the can. It works better with a full basket. The last two cans seem to go crooked more often. I’ve been leaving those and piling cans in until it’s full. We got two of the screws in a stud and it feels very sturdy. I want to get another one to mount outside near the big recycling bin! Love it. I’ve literally been telling people I know in real life about how awesome it is.

Best I’ve owned
This is the best can crusher ive owned. Although its plastic, its sturdy, the basket is a bit flimsy but it works. Its quiet and crushes the cans great! Highly recommend.

Love it!
Works great! Not perfect and sometimes the cans don’t fall correctly but overall a real timesaver. Yes unit is all plastic and the cage is a little flimsy but the cage has a predrilled small hole with enclosed screw included to mount the back of the bracket onto fence, wall, etc. I also found it’s better not to pre dent the cans or they may not fall correctly down the chute. Just use the cans perfectly round for best results and the long handle provides enough oomph to crush them!

Varey Pore design, cheap construction
It does a lousy job of flatting cans; it has difficulties doing the smaller 7.5oz cans and cans want to pop out. The loading wrack is a joke; cans do not drop down smoothly and most of the time I have had to reposition the can to lay down to flatten. You will need a solid wood structure to mount it on; wall anchors will not hold it and even 1/2" plywood will not hold the screws under the torque pressure you have to use to flatten cans. Overall, a very pore design. with the need to lift up on the handle to crush cans, a pull down motion would be much better and probably safer.

The basket doesn't make it more efficient, but the automatic drop does
I was once a quality control engineer, so this gizmo posed two questions: is it more efficient than vertical can crushers? and is it more efficient with or without the basket? For most (actually ever one I've seen on Amazon) crushers you place one can vertically in the crushing zone, operate the handle, then pick up the crushed can and toss it into a container. This one, you place can horizontally and let the flattened can drop into a container when you lower the handle. This is simple, but genius. If the basket worked perfectly it would save you some time, but in the real world (and my brief experience) you will get misfeeds due to dented, misplaced cans and random errors that make you stop and sort out the feed. If your second or third can jams, this can be a major hassle. You will need to take out all the remaining cans, toss the can that got bent or partially crushed into a separate pile, and reload the basket. And you can't just drop a bunch of cans into the basket. You need to reach in and place each can in it's proper orientation. After about 100 cans I removed the basket. I like the rhythm of: Pick up can, put it in the device, lift the arm, depress the arm, raise arm and crushed can drops into container below, repeat. In practice you can reach for a new can with one hand and simultaneously crush the previous one. In the long run the time difference seems tiny, or a small advantage to hand feeding. I think I mainly don't like the aggravation of having to sort out the occasional jam. From the reviews, some folks prefer using the basket. That's fine. If it works for you are good to go..

Skip the basket, and watch the pin.
Crushing mechanism is sturdy, but the flimsy basket breaks almost immediately. If not seated correctly, cans will be ejected from the unit during crushing. Plan a backsplash, as liquid waste can splatter. Use with standard cans, odd size cams (RedBull, mini Coke, etc) will cause misfeeds and other hassle. The hinge pin is not locked in and will wiggle itself out, so you must supervise, but it is robust otherwise.

Great, and the basket is cool- depending on your preferred size of vices.
I'm a proper redneck, and go through a lot of wheat soda, and instead of slowing down on that, I decided to upgrade my capacity for spent barley casings. Works fantastic for the short, fat 12oz cans that 'blue light' comes in, and will gladly crush a tallboy if you flip the piston back and load them under the basket one at a time, but the piston head is just a little too big for the tall, thin cans that the silver bullet comes in, and I think coke used to come in. It's pretty sturdy, I have faith in its longevity, and the basket is a nice little gimmick that does its job well for one particular size of can. I'd say it's worth it with the basket.

Great can crusher
I took a leap of faith in buying this crusher after reading so many bad reviews. But I was in hope I could trust the good reviews. Installing this, I just made sure to give stability to both the crusher and the can hopper by first mounting pieces of wood to the wall. I added the photo so that you could see my method. I have been very impressed in how well this works. Much better than my last one that was mostly metal. (I added a photo of the type I replaced as the welds broke from the wall mount. This is just a screenshot, not my actual old crusher) I for sure would buy it again and even recommend it to anyone wanting to spend under $20. Hope this review helps.

Easy to assemble.. Works like a charm..! So much easier than the one by one can crushers.. Sometimes a can will flip into the wrong position but that is a very minor problem. Great value for money..!!
